If you have an internet connection using the ethernet cable but not on the wireless and there is an orange light blinking.. Try to reset the router by pressing the reset button located on the back or on the location were you can twist the stand for the router. press it for about 10secs and that will return the router on a factory settings. before u reset the router make sure to acces the configuration for the internet settings of your isp provider. if the orange light still there, try to download the latest firmware of your router on linksys site and that should fix the problem

If the wireless light on the router is not coming ON that is a sign of something is wrong with the router settings or with the router itself.

First thing that you can do here to correct the problem is to do a reset on the router, To reset the router using a paper clip or pen press and hold the reset button of the router for 10 seconds while power is ON and then once done let go the reset button and unplug replug the power of the riuter then check now is the wireless light is back ON , if the light for wireless is back on you can now continue an reconfigure the router.

But after the reset and still nto able to bring the wireless light back ON your next step here is to do a firmware upgrade on the router. You can follow these step by step procedure from this link , just click HERE and then follow the steps to upgrade the firmware of the router.

Try using userTry using the username admin and password also admin. This is the default setting. If that doesnt work you may need to reset the router by pushing the small button at the back of the router and then use the admin, admin to login.

are you connecting via wifi?
if you do not know the wireless network security key you can find it by logging into the router using a cat 5 cable with your laptop.
connect to the router config by browsing to 192.168.1.1 on internet explorer or another browser
the default login is blank the default password is admin if you have not changed it.
go to the wireless tab and click on wireless security.
the key should be listed below.

First try by changing the Ethernet cable if it still does not work then it might be a issue with your modem so try replacing that

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to reset the settings of your router you can simply press the reset button at the back of the router for 10-15 seconds using a Pen or a Paper Clip. Lights will start blinking indicating that you've successfully reset the router. Keep in mind that resetting the router will remove all the saved settings inside and it will be back on its factory settings.

If you want to the security key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security and under Security Mode you can see the Network Key or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password on your network to make it secure. You can personalize the Network Key so that you can easily remember it. Then Save the settings.

With that particular model you wont be able to use it as a wireless bridge. You can however run an ethernet cable from the modem to any point in your house. the SBG900 i believe has wireless built into it, so you may need up with 2 wireless networks.

Once you have all the wireless settings of the router, you are ready to connect the play station or the x-box to the wireless network.

X-BOX

On the x-box you will need to connect to the wireless network now.
Open the main Interface of the X-Box.

1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.

2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.

3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.

4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.

5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.

6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Trouble connecting to the internet on X-box ,Play station or WII ?

You can try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if the MTU on the router is set to 1500 then change the MTU to 1365. Also you will need to open the ports on the router.

For X-box port numbers are - 53, 80-88, 3074 .

Reset your router do this by pusing the small button on the back you will have to use a pen or paperclip then follow the directions below for the linksys.

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.

For Windows XP

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

XBOX

You Will Have to Disable the Firewall In Your modem / Router

And IF it is a router then Open The Ports

• TCP 3074
• UDP 53
• TCP 53

And Also Make sure that UPnP is Enabled

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer

Step 2 : open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of internet explorer (Default Password is Admin )

Step 3 : Click Applications and Gaming

Step 4 : Click DMZ

Step 5 : Select Enable and Give the IP Address of the XBOX/PS3/Wii in it

Step 6 : Click Save settings

Step 7 : Unplug the Power cord from the router and turn Off XBOX /PS3/Wii

Step 8 : Plug the power cord back to the router and wait till the lights are Solid

Step 9 : Turn on the Xbox/PS3/Wii

Step 10 : Test the Connection

yes.. do the following:

Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

then restart both computers.
