well no OS told
so there is no answer ever lacking such a key fact.
if the PC runs old OS new sound cards do not work now.
like XP sound cards are useless on new PC
and new sound cards are useless on XP.
see? there is no support for XP or vista now
and w7 is nearing same.
yes you can buy XP sound cards on ebay if they promise it works on XP that is, there are old stock still sold.
the 4020 not sold in USA only 4022
so I will read this manual
OMG BTX PC here, the horror of backwards MOBO
and cards that do not fit this case + mobo and hit the fan shrouds
seem top come with VISTA OS , GW shows.
but our manual shows no BTX horror,>? how odd is that.?
this PC needs no audio card at all to do sound.
it has the 6 sounds jacks on the rear.
sound cards added only add new feature or better sound.
ok the 4020R is reversed BTX, they had ATX and BTX(R) then.
One PCI Express ×16 (graphics interface)
One PCI Express ×1
Two PCI conventional
there are your slots
only you know what slots are free to use, looking or what slot was used on old card, really not needed anycard
so the answer is this, use X1 slot sound for VISTA.
or buy USB sound dongle device, for VISTA
if not VISTA say what it is..
BTW BELOW IS THE BTX VERSION THAT CAN BE A HORROR.
The PSU might need to be replaced Test
your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not
working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of
restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect ,boot up a computer hard
drive
WARNING Before you start
troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

rules
Only work
inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected.
Never open the power source.
Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within
the computer.
While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of
ESD and its potential hazards
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data
cables IDE ,SATA
the leads from your
MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE
make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or
just replace them they could be faulty
Make
sure all leads that are attached to your dvd \ cd floppy drives have secure
connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be
faulty.
Computers need power and data to travel through every working
device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up
with a computer error.
Even
something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you
problems
Motherboard and a Hard Drive any leads between them will fail
before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE
replace it this will be the first to fail.
Check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are
securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through
make sure these drives are working
also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure
they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some
motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in.
Check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely
seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will
help disperse the heat
Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto
the CPU.
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Thermal-Compound-Roundup-February-2012/1490
Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT
SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink.
Another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be
running to many programs at the one time putting to much strain on the CPU
central processing unit.
If you can get your computer stable
enough
scroll
to bottom toolbar bottom of screen right
click select task manager
applications
you will see whats running if you see anything you dont need running select end
now
also
under processes see what is ticking over again if you see something you do not
need to be running end now or you might
uninstall that program and some unnecessary programs
not having enough computer ram can cause memory
dumps
If you are not sure if a module is right for your system use the
Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a
list of guaranteed compatible modules.
first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down
list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model
then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have
an option to scan your system
you should always for a guarantee on any ram modules when
purchasing them or buy working pairs if possible.
Sata should be fine IDE 40 pin is old and outdated
Many people who are looking to buy a new desktop computer get
caught up in a continuous waiting game for prices to drop.
If you are in need of a new PC, now is as good a time as any to
buy one.
Thanks to the demand for laptop computers and the economic
slowdown, desktop computers are now being sold at prices less than $1,000.
The actual price, of course, will depend on the specific features
you are looking for.
Finding a good deal is however not about the price of the desktop
alone.
Other factors to consider are suitability, convenience of
purchase, after-sales service and the ability to upgrade later.
Determine your requirements.
When
you are planning to buy a desktop computer, do not start with price as your main
criterion. Think about what you need the PC for.
Decide
if you need the computer to check email, browse the Internet, manage a lot of
data, watch movies or as a gaming console.
The
particular application you require will decide the price range you should be
looking for.
If
you want simple word processing and basic Internet access, you will find many
low-cost models, whereas a gaming PC will be priced much
higher.
Check out available options.
You
can buy a desktop computer from a local retail store, directly from the
manufacturer and from online shopping sites.
Evaluate
the pros and cons of each method.
Your
local retail store may be priced a little higher than the online manufacturer
stores, but you get a hands-on experience before purchasing.
Manufacturer
stores price their products lower and allow a higher level of customization, but
the shipping costs can offset your savings on the purchase.
Visit
online shopping sites like eBay and Craigslist and look at the list of products.
Check
if shipping is free or you may end up paying much more than you would spend at a
retail store.
Look
at refurbished computers.
Refurbished
computers are those that the manufacturer has received back from a customer due
to minor defects.
These
have later been rendered as good as new, but cannot be sold as new.
Most
desktop computer manufacturers have refurbished computers on sale, which are
priced much lower than brand new computers.
Consider
such models if price is a major criterion.
Avoid
extravagant features.
Look
for a desktop computer that meets your basic requirements of an operating
system, anti-virus software and an office system.
Think
if you really need that fancy keyboard or the upgraded software that can be
purchased at lower prices directly from the vendor.

first, make sure your entering the right information in the username and password boxes. I know it sounds dumb, but it had to be said. if it continues to have problems, go into your yahoo email and try signing in from the email program there is a link up near your login name. if you get into your email, theoretically you should be able to sign into chat. I would change your password for messenger and try logging in again. is it possible someone was trying to get into your messenger and saved a wrong password, go to login screen on messenger and erase your password and type in your correct password. and login. if you still continue to have problems, either update messenger or reinstall the messenger program and see if that works for you. Good Luck
Windows has crashed severely and it was corrupted. Try to see if you can boot in Safe Mode and recover your files - if you can't you will have to use an Linux Live-CD like
http://www.mandriva.com/en/downloads/one/ After that just reinstall Windows - it will be way easier and faster than to try to determine what caused the crash and how to fix it.
Your board has ATI integerated graphics, no need to remove. You would upgrade by adding a PCIe express card in slot. Do you have such a card? If you need installation instructions, let me know at "add a comment"
Dave
No, the motherboard is a proprietary format, specific to just this model and the case was designed around it.

Some symptoms of a failing power supply unit on this unit are, computer does not start automatically when power button is press, the place where the power supply is located is getting way to hot unlike before and then computer just shut down itself without any notice. IF you have these symptms you might want to consider already replacing the power supply on this computer.
One of the best free programs i have found is ccleaner. will clean your registry and your internet cache. Download and run that it should help you clear out a lot of potentially unwanted stuff and in turn speed up your browsing experience.
Some facts about memory. Newer machines seem to favor matched ram. This means you want to buy memory from the same manufacturer with the same specifications. It used to be in the old days that ram was pretty much ram. It didnt seem to be all that picky about being matched and maybe that was because most of the ram timings were standardized? There were exceptions of course but today there are many more options in speed/timings available from ram manufacturers.
Some things you might like to try. Make sure the ram is for your pc and remove the old ram entirely and put in the new RAM. Does the pc work? If it does and If you have the manual for the computer or motherboard, see if there is a certain slot for slower ram. Or trying moving the new ram to other slots. If the new ram does not work by itself when you remove the old RAM entirely then the memory you got could be bad for whatever reason. Remember this stuff is pretty sensitive to static and other stray electrical currents. What I do for customers that want more ram is I replace ALL of the ram with a matched set of memory they want. This minimizes returns and sometimes odd behaviors that are hard to track down.
If your computer wont turn on, it is probably a power issue.1.) Make sure you have power from the electrical outlet (use a light fixture to test).Disconnect the power cable from the wall and from the computer and reseat them firmly. If you have a spare power cable you may want to replace the power cable (but this is rarely the problem). Also to verify it is the power supply gone out, try your monitor on another computer. If it does work then your power supply needs to be replaced, cost about $30.Make sure to use a power supply with wattage output that meets or exceeds what you are using now.Hope this helps.Best Regards, -md
