If the amp has no subwoofer channel then you take the right and left channels to the speakers and feed them in the subwoofer first, then out to the left and right speakers.

It certainly sounds like the main tuner has failed, if IC301 does that function I would replace it and see what happens.

On those older model receivers there is no place to connect a subwoofer, you need to get some high quality 3 way floor speakers and use those, the crossover network in the speaker takes care of the routing of the low end signals to the woofer.
