CD reader sounds like it's stuck. You might have some debris inside, or the reader might need to be replaced. Not an easy fix, and I would suggest contacting a service center for assistance.

I have the same problem... I opened my CDJ and swapped the laser with one in my other CD player and it worked.

I ordered the part from Pioneer... model DXA-DA114... its about $50

You need to only be semi-comfortable with electronics to repair this. About 10 screws and a few plugs.

nope. there is no feature to choose between CD or CDRs. It plays whatever you put in the tray. More than likely your reader is damaged in some way, or possible damage to one of the ICs or other circuit causing it not to read CDRs. Unfortuanately, you will need to take it to a service tech for further investigation.

Not sure if Nero allows this. I'm sure it does, but with so many anti-piracy lawsuits going around, alot of CDR software manufacturer's are sticking to whatever the RIAA tells them they can and can't offer to their users.

I know iTunes let's you change the artist name as well as the CD cover/image. In Nero, do a search in help, and search for ID3 tags or ID3V tags.

Are you getting error messages? Running in thru LINE? Is not on mute? The possiblity of both not playing would lead to process of elimination.

is there any amount of it sticking out of the socket?  If so, you can possibly use a FRESH carrot, or other "hard" vegetable, mush like you would with a light bulb that has broken with the contact end still in the socket.

If you open the casing, you may be able to use a small pin to push the metal out through the center hole (if there is a hole and it's not a sealed connection on the interior of the unit)

Next thing is to find some small needle nose pliers, or a precision screwdriver, the idea here is to apply pressure to the sidewall of the pin that is stuck (from the outside of the machine)

It should of came with it when you bought it,, if you stole it then hmmm ya still one., or go on line to pioneer and download one.. Or go to your local dj shop and ask the guy behind the counter if you can make a copy of one or have one.

What do you mean by the top plate? Do you mean the actual outer shell of the unit itself, or do you mean the platter? Both are available as special order from - www.djproaudio.com and range in price from $40-120

I understand you are only trying to fix only the converter. Is this for going from 220/50 to 120/60? If so there are a lot of non-servicable parts inside that converter. It'll be cheaper to replace it than repair it unless you have an electronics background and the test equipment. There is one other possibility. Check for fuses inside the converter. !. Unplug the unit let sit for a few minutes to let any possible electrical current drain off. (some have "storage capicators" that will knock you on your butt and I'm not sure about this one) 2. You may have to open the case and look for fuses inside. You have to take the fuses out of the holders to check unless you have an "ohm meter" and know how to use one. 3. If they are clear galss look for the filament inside to be intact. If ceramic (usually white color instead of glass) you need an "ohm meter". The fuses are replaceable if they are "not "soldered in". If they are soldered in you might not be able to buy the correct fuse and that means buy you need a new converter. Hope that solves your problem.

Replace the power supply.

Check the balance control. Apart from that the unit will have to be checked internally to ascertain where the signal is breaking down. This will require some skill and some equipment. My guess is it will be a dry solder joint or a dried out capacitor. If a capacitor looks 'leaky' or swollen, it is a good bet it is outside its tolerance and should be replaced. A PD-M403 is a CD player, nothing else and you require an amplifier to drive a loudspeaker unless you have a 'powered' loudspeaker.

To reset your Pioneer VSX-456 receiver, you can try the following steps: Turn off the receiver.
