Belkin F5D9230-4 router with xbox live

i've been able to play xbox2.gif live in the past with just my modem but then i got a new belkin F5D9230-4 router2.gif.Every time i can connect to xbox live but within diffrent times it'll either kick me out of games or kick me out of chat. i looked everywere for info and ive open the ports 88 udp, udp 3074 and tcp 3074. i even used the dmz and it didn't work. the connections fine and i have upnp enabled.is there anyhting else i can do?

the solution is as such, first log into your router by typing the routers IP (192.168.2.1) into your browser.

The first thing you want to do is set UPnP to be enabled.

Forget about the 88 UDP thing, it's bogus.

Just set the TCP and the UDP to 3074 in virtual server.

I swear to god it will work.

follow the steps below:

  1. Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router.
  2. Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
  4. Click Security under Wireless menu.
  5. Under Security, you can select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP) or WPA/WPA2-personal (PSK). Note: make sure that your wireless computers will be able to support WPA encryption since not all wireless cards/adapters will be able to. if you're not sure, WEP is the encryption to use
Configuring WEP Encryption:

  1. 1. Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you.
  2. 2. Apply the settings. Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
Configuring WPA-PSK Encryption:

  1. Select WPA2-PSK as your Authentication
  2. Select AES as the Encryption Technique.
  3. Enter a word or group of characters in the Password (PSK) box. The Pre-Shared Key must be 8 to 63 characters in length.
Note: The PSK (Pre-Shared Key) is case sensitive ("A" is different than "a")
  4. Click Apply changes to save the settings.
once you have enabled your wireless security, you need to reconnect your wireless computer to the wireless signal using your wireless password/network key.

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you'll have other concern
ciao!

I have a 60Gb PS3 but unfortunately cannot seem to connect to the internet on it wirelessly. i could not put the wire into my wireless router for the simple reason that the PS3 is in my room and the wireless router is in the office downstairs, plus there is no tv in the office for starters. i get my internet through Virgin Media via cable. I need to enter the WEP or WPA-PSK key but i can't find it on my Belkin Wireless 54-G Plus Router. i have tried entering my ip address into my address line on the internet browser but i cannot login to see my security settings as i do not know the password and it is not the default (being left blank). could anyone help me, as i really wish to go online with my PS3 games so i can have the chance to play with my friends in my spare time

Hi, Here is your solution.
Please ensure the proper physical connection from modem to router and to the computer as mentioned on the box and make your all lights are on modem. After that turn on the router,if your have a cable modem, you can very well go for a hard reset, that it is at the back of your router you would see a reset button which is a button inside a hole. Please hold the button for 20 secs with power on router and 20 seconds without power continuously for 3mins (remember to hold the reset button through out 3 mins while plugin and plugout the power cord of the router and use pin or pen to hold the button). After this check out the lights on your router, lan light, internet ,power and modem should be solid.Else you can call the customer service number on the product box, they will assit you very well,ITS A TOLL FREE NUMBER.
