You can take a Ethernet cable(cat 5 or RJ45) and connect to the LAN slot on the laptop and connect the other end to the device you can to create a LAN with.

1) You can take the IP add of your device(to which you want to open ports) and then contact the device vendor and ask them to give port numbers for your device. Once u get the port numbers you can either open ports on the router by logging into the router interface using your Default gateway of the router or you could put the IP add of your device in DMZ on the router. Basically this will keep the device out of the firewall of the router( Which is the main reason for this issue). 2) If the first step didnt work you could disable the firewall on the router.
If both the steps didnt work you could check if your router has any firmware update or it has to be reset and re-configured and the above steps should be re-done.

WEP is the password that you have set up on the Wireless Router.
It is called the WEP Key.

To get your WAN IP address, you may visit www.whatismyip.com and when the page loads, it will show you your WAN IP address there.
You can, of course, login to the router and get this information too.
But that website makes things a little easier!

There is not much protection you will be getting from the firewall of that router. You could let it be disabled and if you feel that the router firewall should be enabled then you might have to check if there is any firewall update for this product. You could log on to.. http://www.belkin.com/support and enter your product details including the version number you will be able to download the firmware.

Welcome to Fixya. Im not quite sure what password you're referring to if ti's the router password or the Network Password or Network Key. Listed below are the steps on how to obtain the Network Password and the Router Password.

For you to get you Security Code or Network Key you need to access your router.To access your router just open a Browser then type 192.168.2.1, password is blank. Click on the Security under Wireless. You can change the security type of your router to WPA, WEP or you can also Disable the security. Under that you can see the Security Code or Network Key. You can also Personalize the Passphrase or Network Key so that you can easily remember it.

You can also reset the router to its factory state but you need to keep in mind that all settings will be back to its default settings. To reset the router press and hold the small reset button at the back of the router using a Pen or a Paper Clip for 15-30 seconds.

. You do not have to use the cd.

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

Is it your security passowd?
go to 192.168.2.1 in your browser. when the setup page comes up, leave the passord blank, and click submit.
then select wireless security, there you will see your key.


Is it the router password? If so, you need to reset the router to default settings:

1. Locate the reset hole on the router. The button will be on the back or side of the router.
   See images below:

1. Leave the router powered on.
2. Use a paperclip (or similar) to press and hold in the reset button for 10 seconds.
3. Remove the paperclip.
4. Wait approximately one minute for the router to restart.

The settings for the router have now been reset back to their default

Do not forget the new password and keep it somewhere safe. If you forget your password, you'll be unable to access your router's settings.

Can you connect to it via wired or wireless? If yes, then connect to it and then open a command prompt on the PC. Type IPCONFIG and press enter, and then take note of the IP address for "Default Gateway". That should be it.

WIRELESS SECURITY ISSUES

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer ( Wired)

Step 2 : Open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.2.1 on the address bar of internet explorer

Step 3 : On the left under wireless click wi - fi protected setup

Step 4 : Leave the password blank and click on submit

Step 5 : Disable it and Click on apply changes

Step 6 : On the left under wireless click Security

Step 7 : Enable 64 Bit WEP

Step 8 : Type a 10 digit number on the key 1 ( 2 in each box )

Step 9 : Click apply changes

Step 10 : on the left under wireless click channel and SSID

Step 11 :Change the Wireless channel to 6

Step 12 : Change the SSID to a different name ( no Spaces )

Step 13 : Click apply changes

Step 14 : Now Scan and connect to this network ( Wireless )

The router is like a signal distributor. Usually several devices on a network share a router. Nintendo wiifii can perform without the router. where the game catches up with the tv. The router only cames handyy when several games conseles or computer devices require a distribution center to split signals. the router makes possible visible documentation of the wireless netwoorks. Usually the router does not contribute towards a device functionality, it only acquires the various signals to provide access to whereever needed.

Have you checked if you Reader is able to detect the network and accept the network key ?

if its ur router and u have forgot the password u can reset the complete router by hitting the reset button on the back but remember all the settings saved will be lost and if thats not ur router and u just want to use it free ... i am sorry i cant help u

You need the network key to connect or get the Literati working. Use your Router WEP or WPA key and connect it.
