I need a installation disk

You do not have to use the cd.

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response.

Thanks, Joe

I have a Belkin wireless G router, model #

A.) PLACE YOUR ROUTER UP HIGH (YET CLEAR OF 2.4-GHZ FREQUENCY EQUIPMENT (SUCH AS 2.4-GHZ CORDLESS PHONES & SOME 5.8-GHZ PHONES WHICH USE A SPREAD SPECTRUM OF DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES), FLUORESCENT LIGHTING, MICROWAVE OVENS, HEATERS, MOTORS, GENERATORS, POWER PANELS) FOR OPTIMUM RANGE.

(There is such a thing as too much range when it comes to keeping your network out of the range of freeloaders & hackers. WPA2-AES encryption & the router's own firewall definitely help! Remember that you do not have to broadcast ths SSID (name of that wireless network), but not broadcasting it could mean having to type it in on each associated wireless device during the initial setup.)

B.) It is not necessarily advantageous to place whichever is the slowest computer on a wired connection, but it is important to ensure that whichever computer is designated to use a wired connection has a functional Ethernet port. Connect that computer to the router's LAN1 port.

(Yes, this router can utilize both wired & wireless connectivity simultaneously.)

C.) Keep the computers clear of the same sources of interference as listed in "A."

D.) Set the wireless adapter settings to full power (in device properties).

E.)

Hi i have installed my router over a year ago now

In general, you can follow the basic steps below.

I would recomend using WPA2 or WPA secutity over WEP. (as this is a stronger type of wireless security)

- Open a web browser on the computer.
- In the address bar of the web browser, type http://192.168.2.1 (default router ip address, you may have changed this)
- Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit. (if you have already set up a password to login to the router then enter it here)
- Click on Security in the left-hand column under the Wireless heading.
- Use the drop-down menu and select "WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK)".
- Select either WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, or WPA-PSK+WPA-PSK2 as your Authentication; doing this will set the Encryption Technique automatically.
- Enter a word or group of characters in the password (PSK) box. The Pre-Shared Key must be 8 to 63 characters in length. Note: The PSK (Pre-Shared Key) is case-sensitive ("A" is different than "a").
*NOTE* Unchecking the Obscure PSK box will allow you to see the security key that has been typed.
= Click the "Apply Changes" button to save the settings.

Any/all wireless computers that connect to this network will be required to have this Pre-Shared Key (password).

If you need assistance with how to re-configure your computers, then please provide the version of windows that you are using.

Basic steps are:

-Disable the current Wireless Connection
-Enable the Wireless Connection
-Search for available wireless networks (look for your SSID wireless network name)
-you will be prompted to enter in your PSK and then save your settings

How can I extend the router's range?

Most routers have about 200m range. However, the actual range in real-time environment is much less. Generally the antenas are omni-directional, however, directional antenna can be used to improve range in one direction. There are two ways to increase the range/ coverage area (i) Adding external antenna of appropriate type (ii) Installing additional Access Point (AP) connecting it with the existing AP wirelessly in line-of-sight (creating WDS) OR connecting the two APs with wire, which is a better option as it provides robust and reliable connectivity between APs.

Based on my on-site experience, I suggest that you may relocate the AP to another location depending upon your network environment. It has always helped me a great deal. Placing the AP at the desk level, avoiding obstacles such as concrete pillars, walls, steel cabinets etc in the signal path have remarkable effect on range and overall performance of the network.

HOPE IT HELPS...Let me know if you need any further clarification assistance specific to you AP make and model. Don't forget to rate the solution if I could have been of any help!
Goodluck!

Router has stopped working

Try unplugging it and plugging back in. if that doesn't work there should be a little pinhole in the back for a resets button. Use a paperclip and hold for 30 sec. (this will reset the router to factory settings)
