Hi, firstly check that the discs are not too scratched and be aware that CD's read and play from the inner diameter to the outer diameter. CD players are really finicky devices that can be affected by the slightest bump and also temperature and humidity changes. Sometimes decks have a humidity sensor embedded in the circuitry. So, all that being said, firstly just turn the set on and let it sit for a while to heat up and dry out especially if it hasn't been used for a while. Then, take the lid off and check for broken drive belts that actually spin the disc. (You may be able to hear the disc spin without the top off). After that the laser itself will have to be cleaned, adjusted and the current checked. Lasers do wear out and sometimes increasing the current to the laser will make it read for a little while longer. You will need the schematic diagram and some decent equipment and knowledge to achieve this though. Since they both don't work, and you got them for free, they might be good experimental pieces but, in my experience they are never 'time' worthwhile repairs. Good luck. Cheers

hey all ive a dns3500 that will not completely load the cd....... if i take the fasia off the front i can load the cd...... does anybody know if the cd mechanism needs a rubber band that needs to be replaced?? also does the dns1200 have the same cd transport mechanism cos i could swap....... thanks

If you would like to change the fuse yourself here is how:- Use a flat screwdriver or a knife and insert it where i have marked in yellow. Then push the plastic lid out with the picture of a fuse.Replace fuse and press the lid back.

your is having a mechanism problem. Mechanism faults are hard and sometimes impossible to fix except a replacement is made. Also, I don't think there is a replacement part for UCD-70 mechanism.

So, what you will have to do now is to check any local repair shop within your vicinity, and ask if they have any bad UCD-70, so that you can remove its mechanism and replace it yours.

This is one of the remedy, there are still other remedies.

What location are you?

If it is with all clean cd's then it can be a dirty lens which you can buy cleaner for, but i've read the manual and was dated 1993, so if a cleaner not helps , it's the unit itself and time for a new player. Parts are very expensive and it's one whole unit..... I think it's the end. Greetings richard

on the front of your cd there should be a tiny hole push a paper clip in there it should open the cd tray

in what format are your songs recorded on your cd?

Will it play the disc,s?

HI. this is a faulty spin motor. have it replaced asap. this will fix this issue.

clean the lens...if it does not work replace the lens.
