The cold that you describe may be just unconditioned air? If you are certain you can hear the comp operating for a couple of minutes, and then the heat starts, I would guess it is a reversing valve issue if it's a heat pump and it probably is. Or the control board acting up. I've had a lot of issues with the boards in the Amanda PTAC units. I can't remember how to configure it, but if you Google "Amanda ptac configuration", there is a lot of info online. May try a reset method first. Hope this helps!

I've replaced many Amanda control boards. They have micro relays attached to the board. These relays are about a half inch by 1 inch in size, and control line voltage to the compressor and blower motor, and give up quite often. Its probably the board if its a digital controlled board. If it has manual, turn to select, type knob, it will be in that fan section knob. Hope this helps!

Use a volt meter and measure all the wires voltage, the one you need should be able to be located that way.

You said in another post that the error was c7. That means evaporator freeze. Too cold. That could be lack of air flow, bad sensor, ice on the coils.

That means evaporator coil is too cold, possibly iced, chech filters, fan speed, airflow, capillary tube

Check the GFI plug where it plugs into the wall and reset it. Also, plug something else into that plug to make sure you didn't pop the circuit breaker

Drain is usually out the back of the unit on the bottom to drain outside

possible low freon are the coils sweating or freezing up also is fan running

probably from the outside fan check for leaves touching the fan blades or unbalance caused by a mud wasp nest on a bade ( back side of a blade )

If that fan stopped your compressor overheated, shut off on thermal overload. Carefully cool compressor with water hose and restart. check to see if the compressor on the outdoor unit is running, if so it could possibly have a refrigerant leak or faulty 4 way valve
