Cuisinart DCC-2200 14-Cup Coffee Maker Questions & Answers
Why won't the hot water empty into the coffee pot?
Make sure your caraffe has its lid on , and check the bottom of the filter. it usually has a valve preventing coffee from leaking when you remove the caraffe. the lid pushes the valve back open when you place the caraffe back into the machine.

Making coffee. Lost my manual.
Step 1
Warm your cafeti?re using some hot tap water and let it sit for a minute before emptying it out. Add two dessertspoons or a level scoop of Bewley's fresh ground coffee per person
Step 2
Pour in water just off the boil (equivalent to one mug per person) and stir to release all those fabulous flavours. Leave for 3-5 minutes to brew.
Step 3
Slowly plunge your coffee by pushing down on the centre shaft until the metal filter gently reaches the bottom of your cafeti?re.
Step 4
Pour your coffee then add milk and/or sugar to taste.
Step 5
Sit back, sip and enjoy!

Hi Virginia,
I can certainly understand you frustration...however we are only here to try to help fix things and can do nothing more then that...
From the looks of your problem you have a situation where you should receive a new product from the company...but they will have to do that not us...
be persistent and firm but controlled in your dealing with them...may need to ask for a supervisor to get anywhere... the people you are talking to cannot do anything more then read pat answers from a book...
Good luck and I hope you can get some satisfaction from them...sorry I cannot do anything for you...

Need to find a source
Check the thermostat first, then the heater.
The best way to do it is with a volt meter.
Are there any loose wire connections?
If you don't have a volt meter or you don't know how to, get somebody that knows
ALWAYS unplug brewer or be careful when dealing with electricity.

Our Model DCC-2200 started boiling and then
The thermostat that controls plate temperature has stuck closed. Stop running the machine until this problem is repaired. A thermal safety fuse should have blown (stopping any further heating).

Here is a link to the Cuisinart support site:

After unpluging the coffee maker and making sure that no one will attempt to use it please contact Cuisinart to see if the DCC-2200 is on the recall list. If it is not, you should consider installing a new power cord with at least 14 gauge wire....this is assuming that you are comfortable doing this sort of repair. Otherwise, replace the coffee maker! Fires from electrical problems are responsible for too many deaths to take any chances with an appliance that smokes when plugged in!
