When fully charged, all 3 LEDs should illuminate without flashing. However, if the red light continues to flash even after at least 3 hours recharging time, there may be a fault with the battery or charger assembly. If the bin-base release trigger seems to be jammed, separate the clear bin from the cyclone assembly, then reassemble, making sure you have both parts correctly aligned. Flashin red light with 2 flashing green lights.
- According to the service manual if all three lights are blinking this mean one of two things.
- The filter is missing or improperly fitted --- Try removing the filter and replacing it and double check everything real well.
- The other thing it states is charging fault --- remove the appliance and refit it again.
- If you do both of these and them lights continue to blink there is more than likely a charging fault be it the battery has gone bad or the charger has gone bad. I have dealt with Dyson on several occasions and they do have some decent customer service. Dyson offers a full 5 year warranty on their products. http://www.dyson.com/homepage.asp if you contact them and tell them your problem they will helps you find either a place close bu to take it to or a place to ship it to. I believe that Dyson pays for shipping as well.

Flashing lights.
The Flashing lights indicate several different things. 1 flashing red light means its time to charge your unit. if it is still flashing after charging then you will more than likely need to change the battery. A flashing red and green light means that the unit is overheating which could happen if the filters need to be washed, or that there is a blockage or if your machine has been left in direct sunlight. Allow 1 hour for machine to cool down. 3 flashing lights indicated that the pre-filter has been put on incorrectly. I hope this helps. If you do decide to wash your filter dont use any type of soap it is not needed and allow fiter to dry for atleast 24 hours. putting a wet or damp filter in will damage your machine.

Hello, what is the significance
yes the reason the green and red light were flashing the way they are is because its a warning to you that the battery is either no longer good or there is problems with your wireing. Also those vaccumes were designed to not charge when there to cold or to hot as a saftey issue.

I put a new battery

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC16. Although your cleaner will no longer be under its original 2 year warranty, the new motor assembly would be covered by a 12 month warranty if you purchased it directly from Dyson. As long as the cleaner has been used in accordance with the terms and conditions described in the manual, we should be able to replace this for you.
Alternatively, we could arrange to have the cleaner returned to us for further inspection.
