My dyson dc16 shuts off after 10 seconds its charged overnight but no good filters are clean but nothing I used it about 25 times a year .the batteries cost to much to replace for this expensive vac

Your battery is losing voltage too quick. It has probably developed a 'memory'. Dyson claims that their handheld has the best suction out of all the handhelds out there. In order to maintain that claim the circuit board will shut off power to the motor when the voltage drops below adequate charge for full suction. We need someone who can teach us to bypass that part of the circuit so it won't cut power to the motor or you need to get a new battery. Shorting the battery like an Aircraft battery then re-charging won't fix it.

There is a small magnet on the pre- filter that triggers a switch. Pull it apart and you'll see the magnet but the switch is behind plastic.. Make sure it is seated well against the motor unit.

Does not have great suction

My filter was completely plugged up when mine acted that way.Also had a piece of tape or paper in the neck that really cut down on the suction.
