First, turn off the power at the circuit breaker and look for a small reset button. There should be one. If not, leave the juicer on off - and turn the circuit brkr. back on, and try again. take it to an appliance repair shop, get a quote then if dearer than a new unit ,junk it

I am not sure how rusted it is, but it should be fairly easy to clean. I would start with either distilled white vinegar or fresh lemon juice. You should have good results with either. Otherwise Breville does have an 800 number or just google the model number and part name, the part should be available.

Your speed control is going out. I get parts like that all the time from a company called Allied Electronics. You will need to remove the speed control and get the part number off of it first before looking it up or calling.

I fixed my juicer that had this problem, the problem was the thermal fuse which is located directly on the motor with some plastic covering it. You can replace the fuse or do what I did and just cut off the fuse and attach the two wires together (no more fuse) and my machine now works again :)

to clarify- I was just starting out this morning, juicing some carrots and heard a pop (carrot chunk hitting the inside of the pulp cover) and the machine stalled.
