Cursor jumping all over making screen scroling

If you're using an external mouse, make sure you have a single colour mouse pad as anything with different colours/lines on will cause the effect you're having. You mention it's customised, could it be the customisation that's causing the problem.

I want more volume from my mac

Playing through VLC is one option, ensuring that the show audio effects button is activated in the VLC view menu, click on the button the bottom right of the VLC player the left of the two buttons, then you can increase the volume by 20 decibels, also VLC's actual volume can be set to 200%, VideoLAN Official page for VLC media player the Open Source video framework in iTunes there is a volume adjust option for each file too, select the item in your library, press cmd + i, a box appears, go across to the options tab there you can increase the volume by 100% for the selected item, there is also the "Window" menu bar menu, click it you will see the equalizer option, click it this will allow you to boost all iTunes audio by 12 decibels, as well as iTunes regular volume control or if your still not satisfied, try Boom, Awesome Mac volume booster and system wide equalizer it's not free, but is really good, it's £4.99 / $6.99 from the mac app store, and there is a free trial if you want to test it first. But I have used it myself on my old mac, and it's brilliant, so really no need to test it :-)

What can i do? been trying to get into my emails but gmail is off line.

You didn't provide much detail, so bear with me for awhile. There are a number of possibilities. Gmail It may not seem intuitive. First of all, are you able to login to your alternate email, you needed one to setup Gmail? The reason I am asking this is that the first thing to check is that your password is not correct. Remember that Gmail's password is case sensitive, so double check that you have entered it correctly. Next are you able to read/send/delete/archive your Gmail from a browser? To troubleshoot this, if you don't have the Chrome browser, get it. In the Chrome browser, at the initial screen, click on skip for now. Then go to https://www.gmail.com. Are you able to login to Gmail? If you can login to Gmail from the Chrome browser. If your password is incorrect, and you don't remember it, you may request it to be reset and the new temporary password will be sent to your alternate email, so you'll need do access that account to read your password and the instructions to using it. Once your password is correct, or you are able to get in to Gmail in Chrome, you'll need to confirm a couple of settings in Gmail. Click on the gear, and select Settings. Along the top you'll see several settings, select Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Next, ensure that POP is disabled and IMAP is enabled. If that is not the current setting, change it. Click on Disable POP and click on Enable IMAP. After making those changes, you MUST click on the Save Changes button. If you miss that step, it won't change. Mac OS X Mail App Now everything is setup correctly in Gmail. The next is in the Mac OS X Mail app. In the Mail app, select the Mail menu item and go to Preferences... then select Gmail or whatever you called it. There will be three tabs shown. Select Account Information. Then in there, make sure that your Email Address is your fully qualified Gmail address, meaning <user id>@gmail.com. Then, go down and make sure that the Incoming Mail Server is set to imap.gmail.com. Then the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is set to Gmail. TLS Certificate should be set to None. Now go to the Advanced tab. Then make sure all the top half check boxes are checked except make that the Send large attachments with Mail Drop not selected. Leave the IMAP Path Prefix blank. Then make sure that Port is set to 993 and that Use SSL is checked. Also that Allow insecure authentication is NOT checked. Check the Use IDLE command if server supports it. Now close that Accounts pane and close and restart Mail. It should already connect and be on-line, but just to be sure, restart Mail. This should solve any setting issues. Let me know if you are able to login via the Web Gmail, via the Chrome browser but it still shows as off line in Mail. How to disable popups blocker

In the upper-left corner of your screen, you will an Apple icon. Just to the right of that Apple, you might see the word "Safari". If you do, than click on that word, "Safari", and a menu will drop down. Select "Block Pop-up Windows" from that menu, then release. If it was checked, that will uncheck it. Select it again to check it. Now you are in control! Enjoy!

Macbook pro frozen screen cause/cure?

This will sometimes happen when the RAM memory starts to go. if you have 2 pieces of ram, try removing one, if it continues to freeze switch them. If you only have one piece of ram, you may need to pick up new ram. there are other possible reasons, possibly hard drive, but ram is one of the most common reasons for freeze on startup. here is hoping. Good luck

15' macboo pro 2008 15' screen problem. Colors turn negatitive when screen is tilted a certain way.

sounds like the video cable is pinched in the hinges. This was really common with first generation macbook air. iFixit.com has guides for disassembling, but you'll quite likely need a new video cable.

My laptop won't charge. It was working when plugged in and now it won't even do that. Will replacing the battery fix my problem?

It sounds like your battery and your charger are not working. Changing the battery should help, but you should first check to see if you are getting voltage to the laptop. Does the green light on the magnetic end (the end that plugs into laptop) light up when plugged in? If so, your charger is working. You should be able to turn on the laptop with or without a battery (even a dead battery) with a good power supply. If you can turn it on, check to see the number of battery cycles you currently have. Follow these steps to access information about your Mac notebook battery including the cycle count:
  1. Your first step will vary depending on which version of Mac OS X you are using:
    • OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.8 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple menu. Then, click More Info.
    • OS X Lion v10.7 or later: Open System Information by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple menu. Click System Report.
  2. Click Power in the Contents list (under the Hardware section as shown below).
  3. The current cycle count is listed under the Battery Information section.
ht1519-system_profiler-cycle_count-002-en.png Take notice of Full Charge Capacity (mAh) on your machine. It should be close to the number shown above. If it is much lower than that and/or the cycle count is above 1000, it is time to replace the battery. I hope this helps. Mac notebooks Determining battery cycle count
