Make sure you have setup the patrol points where the camera is supposed to patrol. You can test this from Setup.

Also, try to set a small move speed as I find that the image is very blurred to be of much use if the camera moves at the default speed.

D-Link DCS-5220 - Wireless connection constantly dropping

If you have configured Motion Detection then your problem may be because the camera only turns on when motion is detected. That is why it will seem as if the camera is dropping the connection.

If motion detection is not configured then you may be experiencing the same thing I have experienced. The camera does not record in full real time. It only gets snippets of information so the subject seems to jump from one place to another if they move fast. I guess this is a feature of IP cameras because they need to pass through the network with a lot of overheads. This is where good old CCTV cameras with their coaxial cables are best. They may be more difficult to install because of the cabling but their performance is a lot better

Check your Windows Defender Firewall.

Make sure that the software you are using to view the camera has its program configured to go through the firewall. You can set all ports open if you just want it to work or if you are concerned about security, just select the ports for HTTP and RTSP.

How to set Static local IP Address for D-link DCS

To set a static IP on the camera, do the following:

1. Chose an IP address for the camera that is outside your normal DHCP range but within your network subnet.
For example, if your router uses DHCP and gives out addresses in the range of 192.168.1.1 up to 192.168.1.10, you should chose an IP address beyond that (e.g. 192.168.1.20).
2. Login to your camera's current IP address and go to Setup -> Network setup
3. Turn off DHCP and type in the IP address that you chose into the configuration.
4. Restart your camera.

The above should fix your Static IP address question.

With regards to your Wireless question, you should make sure of the following:
1. Your router is set to broadcast its SSID
2. Your router is setup to use WPA (not WPA2)
3. Your AES password in the camera config is the same as that as the routers

Hope this helps

What should the securicam setting be, to view

Wireless camera security systems are available at many stores such as Wal-mart, Fry's and Best Buymag-glass_10x10.gif. These systems can be used to monitor your home and possessions while away. This article will show how to set up such a system.
  1. Step 1 Decide what you want to see on your security system. Front doors, back doors and driveways are popular choices. Other choices may include living rooms, hallways and garages.
  2. Step 2 Wireless cameras are not completely wireless. They still need a wire for power. Most systems come with plug in adapter to power each camera. Most power wires are 4 to 6 feet long. The location of your cameras should be close to power outlets. Professional installers may run electrical wire inside walls and conceal the power outlets and adapters in junction boxes.
  3. Step 3 Each camera will need to be set to its own channel. Common channels for such systems are labeled A through D or 1 through 4. Drill holes into walls and mount the cameras with screws.
  4. Step 4 The wireless camera receiver will be positioned next to the television. Connect the receiver to the television using a cable that has a yellow, red and white connector on each end. Some systems may have an "S-video" connector and cable to connect it to the television. The receiver will also be powered by a plug in wall adapter. Connect it to the receiver and plug it into the wall.
  5. Step 5 Set the receiver to channel A or 1 and turn on the television. The channel of the television may need to be set to Game, Video In or some other name designating the input jacks used. Consult your television for more information.
  6. Step 6 The view from the camera that is set to channel A or 1 should be visible on the TV screen. Tilt the camera if needed to get the view you desire. Set the receiver to channel B or 2 and repeat with the camera that is set to B or 2. Repeat with the remaining 2 cameras.
  7. Step 7 More advanced users may connect the receiver to a VCR, DVR or computer. Digital video capture devices can be used to connect the receiver to the computer. Using video capture software, the video from the cameras can be broadcast on the internet using software such as Yawcam or WebcamXP. HomeCamera.com can also be used to monitor your cameras on the internet.
