The synchronisation separator section circuit has the fault. In most cases, the fault will be due to a damaged section inside the chip [IC] itself and it can't be repaired, except replacing the IC. Contact any experienced service technician, since the work is skilled one.

You have a bad capacitor in the vertical deflection. I have not repaired this particular model. I'm aware of this happening in many of the Magnavox brand. You will have to locate the vertical IC. It may have seven or nine pins (remember, I have not repaired this particular TV) and is mounted on an heat sink. You will have to inspect this IC and resolder the pins. Do not use excess solder, you do not want to short the pins together. Next you will need to replace the capacitors that are near and next to the vertical IC. We are looking at about 4 capacitors, two will need replaced. You may replace the other two if feel you need to, or do not have a capacitor checker. Be sure you solder in the correct values and polarity of the caps as you replace these. You may, also look for a bad capacitor near the flyback transformer. It may be a 100 volt 10 Mf capacitor here, that is also bad.For the TV man this is a simple fix. For the average guy, it may be some effort to fix. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support.

the problem is in your tuner section or video if section check for its proper voltage. if you are not tech. person get the help of tech person it is not a major problem.

I, thats a vertical circuit problem with some capacitore ,they are leak or dry
and at the same time you replace the vertical ic and verify for bad soldering
in the vertical circuit.

This problems it pretty easy to fix.Just require take the tv apart.Resolders all the holes in the video board that connected to a long CRT tube neck.Should cost $50 -$75 more than that u are being cheated.

Push the volume down and channel down buttons(on the tv)at the same time.

Press the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons at the same time to clear this "demo mode." It's easy to get into it accidentally by hitting those buttons together, and then you don't know how it got there.

There aren't any adjustments anymore. This can happen as parts inside age and values change. Also solder connections can fail over time and cause problems. The problem you describe can be in any of several areas of the set. There really isn't anything you can do yourself to repair this. If you want to keep the TV you can get an estimate for repair, but this might be a good time to check out sale prices on new TV's and think about replacing it.

A set that has only a 1/2 inch bright line through the middle of the picture, from left to right, has a vertical output IC that is not working correctly. If the 1/2 inch line is in the middle but going up and down, then the horizontal yoke circuit has stopped working. These are problems which should be looked at by a qualified tech, but if the set was purchased 6 months ago then it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.

Remove the cover on the back of the tv. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. They kinda look like batteries. If they are bulging or leaking then that is your problem. You will have to de-solder the old ones off. Then solder the new capacitors onto the circuit board. Capacitors will cost about 20 dollars and installing them isn't that hard to do. It will fix your tv 99% of the time. So it is worth a try!

I'm assuming that you have checked that the sound is not muted. To confirm that a reset to factory settings is the next procedure: Menu - Setup - General - Factory settings. If you don't see/hear any modifications then it's a hardware defect, not something with the settings.
This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them. If you get and the situation doesn't changes when you unplug them then this is a mechanical defect: the small switch inside the headphone jack is faulty and keeps signaling that the headphones are plugged in when they are not.
The only way to fix that is to replace the jack, which involves a very delicate soldering procedure , one that only a good repairman can do - you must call one.
