Got F9 on Amana range

Shut off the circuit breaker to it for FIVE minutes, then back on. If the problem persists then do the following:A latch locks the center top INSIDE of the door during cleaning.Run a piece of semi-stiff, flat object, like a cardboard strip that is in L shape behind the top lip of the door from RIGHT TO LEFT. You may need to push it along with your finger jambed in there when it reaches the latch. With a little push the latch should open.Try to run the oven, if F9 shows again, press cancel Oven to quiet it. The Lock state is still in place. Move the latch hook manually all the way to RIGHT. Then shut off the circuit breaker for FIVE minutes, then back on. The oven should work ok.If this fails again try the five minute shut off with the latch in other starting positions. If none of these work then the latch mechanism, or it's motor is really broken. Replace or ditch and never buy Amana again!

F9 reset, no heat and door wont lock

Hi. The unit is programmed to not operate,or heat, when there is a serious fault within the door latch assembly. This F-9 code, represents a failed door latch assembly. This device must be replaced. Once replaced, the unit will operate correctly.

NOTE_ Try to reset the mechanism. This can be done by shutting down the power, or unplugging for five minutes. Once the five minutes have passed, simply, re-introduce power to the unit, and observe. if the error code returns, replace the door latch assembly.

OVEN WILL NOT COME ON

Hi

F9 is a door lock error and to solve this issue you can hold the light switch for 15 seconds, this will reset the control. If it won't work then hold the light switch in and set the unit to clean and after a minute press cancel to cancel the clean cycle. If still it won't work then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

We have an Amana oven

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. You can try this solution if it will works the problem is about the latch of your oven.
try to hold in on the oven light switch plunger that the door would hit if it was closed properly. what you probably did was to pull the door open while it was trying to lock. once you hold the plunger in, then hit the clean cycle again and then push to cancel button to get the door latch to unlock the door. it may take a minute or two but that should clear up the error code and let you use the oven again. next time if you push the clean by mistake, just let it go and then when it says "locked" just push the cancel button. it will unlock and be ready to use.

Here's a manual about the error code of your Amana Oven.
Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya.

We have a amana stove

Hi,

The F2 code has to do with the oven not latching properly....this is only used when the oven is put into self clean and does not affect the regular usage of the oven..

It is fine to use it for baking and such...

Yesterday -put oven in self

Hello,

These codes mean that the oven's electronic control has detected a condition it needs to check. When you see a code, follow these steps:
  • Press "Stop/Clear" to clear the display and stop the beeping.
  • Reprogram the oven.
  • If the code still displays, turn off the power to the oven at your breaker box and wait five minutes before turning it back on.
And below are the step by step instruction on how to operate oven on self cleaning

To self-clean your wall oven, follow these simple steps:
  • Remove the oven racks.
  • Set your oven control to "Clean."
  • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
  • Select "Start." (To set a delayed start, see your Use & Care Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.

Hope this solution help?

Thank you and thanks for using fixay.

Light will not shut off

The only thing thing it can be is the light switch, as this is what gives the power to the light bulb.
It sounds like the switch contacts have shorted, thus giving a constant feed to the bulb, If it were me,I would fit a new switch, but to be sure, pull the leads of the switch, and the light should not work.
MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF FIRST!!!!!.

Oven will not heat until you turn the heat up to

Your "Bake" element may not be working properly. It's the one in the bottom of the oven. Place a couple drops of vegetable oil on the bottom pan, and turn the oven on. During pre-heat, you should start to see those oil drops generate some smoke, IF the lower element is working properly. If it isn't - voila'.!! Problem is with the lower element / associated circuit.

Broiler does not heat. bake is fine

Sounds like a problem in the relay control board. (aka Transformer Relay Board)

If you are comfortable removing the oven from the cabinet (easy!!) and tilting the control panel out a bit, the Broil control relay is the 2nd one from the end on this pic:

aa65876.jpg

If you wanna take it a bit further, and feel comfortable poking around with a DVOM with live power to the board (not recommended for the novice), check relay K5 for 120V on E-12 (blue wire). If you have it, hit the "Broil" button, set it to "high", and check E-13 (black wire to the left of blue wire) for 120V. If you don't have 120V to E13, chances are the relay has flaked out on you.

If this is right down your alley, definitely spend some QUALITY time reading these manuals, they will help you isolate the problem.

The oven will not completely heat

Try a few drops of vegetable oil on the lower pan of the oven, and turn it on. If you do not get smoke during pre-heat, chances are your lower element is not working properly. If you DO get copious amounts of smoke off the pan, the problem could be with the temperature sensor.

If your lower element is not functioning, and if your broil function works just fine, the problem may be isolated to the relay control board. (relay K4 controls half of the 240V required to run the Bake element correctly)

Try turning off the circuit breaker for a minute to reset any electronics in the oven. Just an idea!
