It sometimes loses connection with my i pod touch

Hello, Belkin usually will have an Idle Time (Minute) > setting, which can be found in the WAN setting menu option.
Check your idle time and adjust as needed.

One other problem I had worth mentioning was that I was not able to access certain section of certain websites for eg Yahoo mails 'view email'.
This is sometimes the result of bad MTU settings.
In my case the router defaulted to an MTU value of 1456. I changed that to 1400, which did the trick for me.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

I have forgotten my router user name and

Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert it into the small hole in the back of the router, to "reset" the router to its "factory" settings.

Then, reconfigure your wired and your wireless networks.

The wireless light is not lighting up.

if no wireless light is lit up, then there is no wireless connection between your computer and router....
delete preferred networks in your computer and search for wireless networks available in range....if you find your network there then connect to it...
if not then hardwire any computer to the wired port of the router...
open your web browser and type 192.168.2.1 in address bar and hit enter...
it will take you to login page of router....
password leave it blank and click submit....
on the left side click on "wifi protected setup" and disable it....
now check for ssid(network name) in "channel and ssid" it should be a single word(no spaces and symbols)...
security should be 64bit for XP & Mac computers....
for vista and above you can use any security...

apply changes for all...and search for wireless networks from laptop...click and connect....

How do i install my router

You may manually configure your Belkin router. Make sure that the computer is connected to the ethernet port (gray) of the router. Then the modem is connected to the WAN port (yellow) of the router.

On your computer's browser, type: 192.168.2.1

It will prompt you for your password. By default, just leave the password field blank.

Once in the setup page of the router, go to Internet/WAN tab. Under connection type, you need to select the type of your connection depending on your ISP. If you are not sure, contact your ISP and ask them if they use PPPoE (you will also need the username and password for your connection) or DHCP, Static, etc.

Then next and then apply changes. Once the router has the correct settings from your ISP, you should be able to get online.

For the wireless settings, just go to Wireless in the setup page and you may change your settings like enabling wireless security.

I hope this helps!

I have a belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 v8000,

With the F5D7230v8 (firmware 8.00.06 and 8.00.10) and the F5D7231v3 (firmware 3.00.06), when the router restarts the switch does not restart. You can see this on the LED panel: when the power and wireless LEDs go off, the LEDs for the wired computers remain on. This applies to changes in web interface that make the router restart as well as to resetting the router with the reset button.

As a result, computers that are hard wired to the router will not temporarily loose their connection to the LAN, and will not renew their IP address when the connection is re-established. If the change to the router's settings involved changing the router's IP address, these machines will not be able to connect any more until the IP address on the machine is manually renewed.

For the F5D7230v8, the problem has been solved in the (QA Approved) version 8.00.16 of the firmware. An update is available from the Belkin UK Support Site.

It is unlikely that there will be a solution for the F5D7231v3 as the G+ range of products is phased out.

Getting my wii hooked to wireless internet from my

From the wii home menu... Go to Wii Options in the lower left. Click on Wii Settings to the right. From this first list, click the right arrow. Now on page 2, click on Internet. Then click Connection Settings. From this list, click Connection 1. Then, click Wireless Connection... and then click Search for an Access Point. It will briefly search for any access points and when the screen comes up, click OK. There will be a list of nearby access points. If the one you are looking for doesn't show up, click Try again. Then, click the one you have access to... When the following screen appears, click OK... and OK again. It will test the connection... And if successful, a menu will drop down. Click Yes to update Wii. Sometimes the prior screen is false, saying there is an update when there isn't and another window will appear... Now, back in Wii System Settings, click on WiiConnect24. From the following list click WiiConnect24. Click On and then Confirm to save your settings. This feature allows for updates to be seemlessly sent to your Wii so you don't have to do the final step every time. Ok, the final step, just as a way to make sure your Wii is up to date. Click the right arrow from the 2nd page of Wii System Settings. Click Wii System Update... click yes... it will test your connection for a few seconds... an update screen may quickly come up and tell you there is an update (whether or not your Wii actually needs one) Click Wii Menu to finish.
