Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck. DIY dr pavoni

Hi Rob,

Open the top of the machine. On the heater element you'll see 8 cable connection: 2 on one end, 3 pairs on the other. The safety reset thermostat is on the middle of the 3 pairs (easy to spot the other 2 is flat, the middle one has a 2mm part sticking out). Remove that pair of cables - just in case - and push that button in. You'll hear a clicking noise. Connect the two cables back to the element and follow the "starting up procedure" from your manual. If you did everything correctly the machine will start to operate. Turn it off and put back the top. That should be it.

Try opening the steam nozzle while trying to pump the water through as this will get rid of any air locks. Otherwise it may be a build up of scale in the boiler or the pump itself. Try that and descale if you can.

Try to take of the top and see if you can see any thermostat fuse, on some machines this are on the boiler.

Fill the tank with a strong De scale soulition , sounds like its blocked with limescale. REMEMBER to rinse thru clean water several times after the process...

hi try another socket if still do not work you probably used it without water and heating element thermostat above the boiler has to be reset regards GUy

hi if you can tight the bolts on side of the group heade that might help if not you have top replace the o ring regards Guy

hi you probably have your piston rod is little bit loose from piston so it does not raise piston high enough so group head must be disassemble and reconnect the rod with loctite regards Guy

Try running some white vinegar through it as if you was making coffee (but don't use any coffee) and when done either repeat processes or run a clean pot of water to clean out the vinegar and see if the water is coming out faster. You might need to repeat process a few times. The vinegar breaks down any hard water residue.
