Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How to restore audio files from formated Olympus digital recorder
You should stop recording new ones to prevent the old ones from being overwritten. If your digital recorder has a memory card, take it out and insert it to your computer with a card reader. If the device has built-in memory, just connect it to your PC directly. On your computer, you need a video/audio recovery program. Fine one, install and run it. The software will help you scan lost audio files from your recorder, then it'll show you what it's found. Choose the files you want and hit the "Recover" button to start recovery process.
If you're a Mac user, please feel free to try this Mac based video/audio recovery app.

Message on attempt to record: 'input blocked'
I got this same message on my VN7000PC that I got in LIDL. The message appeared when I tried to record. I could not get it to go away. At the time I just happened to have 5 files in Folder A with lock on. I tried to remove the file locks. I got the same message "Input Blocked". That was a clue. Maybe it had something to do with the internal 1GB drive. I formatted the drive. The message disappeared and now I can record again.

File Recovery from Olympus VN-6200 PC voice recorder
Hi,
First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.
Then connect your recorder to another PC with a recovery program installed.
Photo Recovery Software (also
recover Voice memos, audio and video files) is right what you need to use if you are running Windows. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to
Data Recovery for Mac.
But you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP. Good Luck!
We have given our clients the DS-40 recorders.
When the recorder is connected to the computer,it should be recognized as a device.Have your client go to my computer and click on the drive that represents the recorder and open the files from there.Once the drivers are in place, nothing should change.
