How TO RESET flashgun ex 11m7unk

There is no "official" reset option for a 430EX flash. Removing the batteries, discharging any remaining flash and leaving it overnight should clear any issues. If you continue having issues try the flash on another camera to be sure it's not the camera settings you're having an issue with and not the flash. If it is the camera, resetting it to factory defaults through the menu might help.

Test button- fire, but when attached to hot-shoe

Check the hot shoe contacts and make sure they're clean. If that doesn't help, place the flash on your camera, turn both on and reset the camera to factory default through the menu settings. Also make sure the hot shoe on the flash and the camera isn't damaged. Have you tried the flash on another camera?

New batteries still no power-up

Check the contact in the batt compartment for obstructions or corrosion etc. No power means broken circuitry - either physical dislodgement of electronic/ electrical parts or damaged electronic components.

Now what?

Nothing is going on. Your camera is working as designed. Most cameras have an upper limit on the shutter speed when used with flash. This is called the flash sync speed. At speeds higher than this the shutter is never opened completely, and as a result you would get only a narrow slit of a picture.Usually this is not a problem since the exposure is determined almost exclusively by the flash and the aperture. Any action is caught and stopped by the brief flash, not the shutter. The primary reason for controlling the shutter speed is to use a slow speed to allow the background to expose.Your camera may have a special high-speed flash mode that fires off multiple flashes coordinated with the shutter movement. Since you didn\'t say what model Canon camera you\'re using, I can only suggest you check the manual.

My canon speedlite 430ex does not charge up, batteries are new and rear screen works/lights up any ideas?

Sounds like an internal wiring circuit problem. It's strange that the screen lights up but the flash doesn't charge. You should probably get it checked by Canon.

When I take a promaster remote flash trigger system with my canon 430ex half of the picture is exposed. What am I doing wrong?

this is most likely a sync issue. you shutter speed is too high. try lowering it. 1/200 or 1/160 of a second should be fine for your case.

Will not pre-flash

it sounds like you are try to SEE the pre-flash. you'll never be able to do it with bare eyes. it's all so quick that to the human eyes it all looks instant. don't worry about it. if it working in TTL mode, it does all the pre-flashes it needs, you just to see them. speed of light is quite incredible :)
