Mic
any radio shack mic will do.
TRC 503 Mods
do you mean the trc 503 or the 503A . one is a hand held the other is a CB which neither one has any good mods except for turning it up a little for power and a little modulation.
Radio shack trc-496 mic
if this one is a din type mic they should all be the same wiring and one mic should fit all of the same type.
Trc-444 no receive
I do the same thing by getting a radio that just plain old don't work. Now, did you buy it or is it a friends that he gave to you to fix? If you bought it than did you buy it to get it running or just to get experience on this model or for parts? Whatever, it is going to cost you more to fix it then the radio is worth so at this point it is a parts radio.
Where can I get a schematic for my RADIO SHACK
first, what do you need the wiring diagram for? If you are really in need of one as you probably know by now they are going to be hard to impossible to find . I would take the time to find the problem then take it wire by wire if I was that desperate . Maybe you should consider a newer radio .
Realistic TRC453 AM/SSB
When I power
if I had the radio here I could tell you in a minute what it is but I don't have it so here goes . You can have transmit and receive on one band and not the other .The culprit could be the filter or it may be just jumped frequencies . Either one is not a problem but you may want to consider another radio because it may cost more to fix then you could buy a new one for. Go to www.cbtricks.com and look up radio schematics and manuals. when the page opens go R for radio shack ,then scroll down to your radio and open it. It will open to a lot of information but you want to look at the one that says troubleshooting. I believe what you want to know is there.
I have a TRC - 432 base station, I keep getting a
you may want to take it to a tech because it requires changing components in the receive circuit and the audio circuit .As long as it has never been tuned the tech should have no major problem repairing it.
Have trc 457 need to clip mod limiter, what to look for?
why do you want to clip the limiter ? you will be overmodulaing the audio and bleeding over all the channels and this is great but also a good way to loose friends because while you are talking they cannot listen because your voice will be coming through their radio. the best thing to do is leave it alone and find the variable to turn the mod up then you should be at around 90% modulation .
TRC-466
if you post on this site the wiring for your mic I'll tell you how to get more modulation. there are a number of people looking for this wiring and I don't do wiring unless I really have to. Now if you open the radio and look at the components side you will look for a transformer with a variable real close to it. Thats the modulation transformer .now you will need a modulation meter for this part. look at the needle and turn the variable to the left as you talk on it. If the modulation goes down then crank it the other way and watch the needle go up . Simple??
Radio is receiving but is not sending out any
And you know its not sending out messages because no one is answering you, right. Well ,maybe no one in your area is on the same channel as you are or maybe some one listening but they feel some one else will answer you. hook an external speaker to the PA side of the radio output and see if your voice comes through. Then if you bridge the speaker out put of the cb/pa you chould be able to get talkback. If you can hear yourself talk then your radio is getting out but the question then is how far? Have you checked your SWR reading . You should be below a 2:1 to get out with a decent signal but a 1:1 to 1:5 is best. Actually another radio tuned to the same channel as you , set up a few feet away, should pick up your transmit so you don't have to hook up talkback. If you can hear yourself talk then your radio is getting out its just no wants to talk at the moment.
Radio works but can transmit and only hear ocassional traffic
thats happening a lot today.I don't think its your radio ,I think its just background noise because there is no one on the radio but you at the time .There is so much skip working all the channels that it creates a sssshhhhh noise in the radio and it gets real loud at times. some times going over an s 9 and if that is the case you won't be able to hear or talk on the radio .
