This product is junk!!! Save your money and purchase a different BRAND!!! I purchase my player in May and it STOP working within 6 months!! I purchase this unit from BRANDSMART - NEVER purchase anythig from there. My player still has the plastic cover on the screen. Can you believe that. STINKS and a waste of my money and time!!!!

That's the common problems of Portable DVD players. You need to have your DVD players lenses replace or your lenses flex cable replace.

try play an audio cd. if it doesnt work, means a dead laser.
scout for repairs, but it can be costly. new one is cheap.

If the unit is showing "wrong disk" on every disk that you try to play, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. It can not be repaired. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. If you received the unit as a Xmas present, please call 1-800-727-3592 for instructions on getting the unit exchanged.

Did you make the disk if you made the disk your computer has to give it a digital signature so the DVD player can read it if you're using a regular DVD then I would very carefully using rubbing alcohol and Q tip clean the actual laser I would be very careful doing this if too much rubbing alcohol is on the Q tip it will ruin the laser you can also try resetting the DVD player by taking out the battery and unplugging it from any power source and leave it that way for at least 20 seconds to a minute if that doesn't work you might have something else wrong

Just bought it take it back to the store with the receipt and get a refund and buy a different brand or trade it for a new one while at the store.

I hope that this helps and I am sorry I have no further suggestions but I feel if you purchase something new it should work right and if not I take it back and get a refund or trade it for a new one as I suggested.

Hi, i see this many times a month similar units to this what happens unfortunately, is the laser head and or quadrant detector simply go faulty, or perhaps get dirty scratched etc. You could try a head cleaner, but i do not think that will make any difference, but is worth a try. Unfortunately again this isn't really economically repairable even if one could get parts, which seem unobtainable.
Contacting Coby direct also may work for parts, and a service manual tooif you wish to DIY.

You may be able to get it repaired though if you can find an agency that deals with them all the time, they may have units that are faulty in other ways and they could use the laser system out of a junked one... I sometimes do this if i can for my customers.

Does it spin up?

If it does not spin up its the servo motor.

If it spins up then stops its the pickup laser.

The fix here will run $75 bucks and you can replace one of these units for $89-$100 depending on brand name.

First I would try cleaning the laser with a cleaning disk if that did not work then its the laser.

Hi,
It seems that lcd is not getting proper/ enough back light to present picture with good brightness. Most probably connecting wire between top and bottom part of unit got cracked/ damaged and causing low or no back light in lcd section of dvd player.
Please check connecting flexible wire between lcd and lower dvd section and replace it. Unit will take apart and it is not job of novice.
