GEAR END AT DOOR DOES IT HAVE TO BE MOUNTED TO HEADER WALL?

It can be mounted to a ceiling rafter, but make sure there is room above to allow for the trolley to travel freely. If there is a clearance issue, there are top roller adapters called "quick turn brackets that make the top of the door turn faster and lower. Most likely available from your local garage door company.

The overhead garage door remote will not open the garage door what do i do

Make sure that the battery in the remote is good. If it has gone bad, often the door opener has to be reprogrammed to accept the signal of the remote. Use your manual to get the directions for this procedure. And if the latter does not do it, either the remote unit is bogus or the receiver circuits on your opener are not working.

I don't trust batteries even when they are new. Try taking the battery out of the remote that is working and install it in the remote that isn't. If that doesn't work you need to purchase a new remote.

My Sears 3/4 HP garage door opener opens the door about 1', then will not go past this point. It will close it as well. I have taken the door off the chain and the chain will run without the door at

1. disconnect the door from the chain. 2. inspect the door again, try oiling the rollers and joints. It is the chain that lifts the door. Try manually lifting the door. If it still does not lift open, it is the door and not the Opener unit. 3. Although you don't see kinks, look for any obstructions eg. the track. 4. Make sure the track has not lossened out at any point. 5 If you can lift the door,. connect with the chain. Goog luck. Basically I think it is the door mechanism that has some how misalligned.

You probably have a stripped gear. Take the cover off the opener and the bottom will be filled with white shavings and the gear will be missing teeth. You can repair with a liftmaster gear and sprocket kit.

Garage door opener not working/no power??

No light at all on your opener? Zero none on your sensors or on your wall control? What about on the opener it self do you have lights in it? it really can only be two things I can think of. with otu seeing it One guy said check you wires. I would say tahts a great place to start I would unplug the wall control wires. Sometimes not too much with newer openers but if they got a staple in the wire it can cause a dead short. When you unplug the wire from the open it's self. Try it. If that does not work try plugging in something to the plug where the open is at. And make sure its not on a switch. Oh one last thing when you use it remote or wall control do it make any sound at all?

Craftman garage door opener, will not go all the way up.

1.Check to see if the door is running correctly.
  A. Run the door down and pull the emergency release. See if the door will run easily by itself.
    1. If it runs hard by hand try lubricating the rollers and hinges with silicone spray or some form of               lubricant (not WD 40)
    2. If the door is heavy and falls back to the ground, you probably have a spring issue (either broken           or needs more tension) in this case call a professional door repair company in your area.
  B. If the door runs fine then check the up force on your operator (the box that hangs from the ceiling          and reads Craftsman). If the light(s) on your operator go from front and/or back, the force                      adjustment screw is on the back of the operator. If the lights are on the sides of the operator then          the force adjustment screw is on the right side (looking from the back of the operator and facing            the garage door). Turn the light blue adjustment screw with the up arrow to a higher number.
