Question edited for a lot more clarity. Question moved to Samsung Home Security. Swap the camera with no feed for one that does. If that location works, you know the camera is faulty. If the known working camera doesn't work, you know it is the wiring of the power supply to that location.

How do I reset my password with out my remote

The manual says:
You cannot enter MENU by forgotten password.
- If you forget the password, you shall reset SHR-2160/2162/2080/2082 DVR to
the values set at the factory. Keep pressing both the "MODE" button and the
"PTZ" button on the left for 5 seconds, Keep pressing both the "MODE" button
and the "PTZ" button on the left for 5 seconds. The password default is "4321".

The SHR-2082 cannot record OTA TV because it does not have a tuner. It is meant to record video from a set of security cameras.

If this does not work, you can reset the device.to the values set at the factory. Keep pressing both the "MODE" button and the
"PTZ" button on the left for 5 seconds until LED lights on in the order of
1➝2➝3➝4➝5
Then you can use the default admin password and take it from there.

Normally the recordings are in MP4 format and a lot of players cannot play it. You would need divx plus player. Its free.

go to samsung-security.com and type in shr-2082 to get to archived discontinued literature.

it sound like the system is locked up or your hard drive is going bad. write down all the info on the unit and reset and reprogram the unit. this may solve your problem if not you my need to send it in for repair.

try setting the time to something different (Like a day and hour from the current setting) than the current time and see if that come up if so then set the system to the current time and date and check again, if that solves your problem great if not reset your system and reprogram it.

I understand Frys sells reconditioned items without letting the purchaser know. Could be your situation. Have you tried contacting Samsung?

First try,

Problem: All the front LEDs are in operation but the monitor remains black.

Solution: Video out may come out differently with the connected monitor. In short, Video
Out is set to Composite Output but connected to VGA Input Monitor or vice
versa. If the MODE and ZOOM buttons are pressed and hold for 5 seconds, the
system restarts while alarming beep sound.

Second and works 99.9% of the time but you have to reset all parameters

Factory Default will be done as follows;
- In Live mode, press and hold down MODE and then PTZ on the front panel for
6 seconds to reset all settings to factory.
Default menu password 4321

Try this it will work:
Press and hold "ch1 and mode" buttons at the same time and hold for about 45 sec. This will change yoursetting to VGA . You can fined this info in your user manual on page # 6-13 see note at bottom of page for "HIDDEN KEY" shortcut's

From your post Its not clear that either you are talking about Hard disk or Compaq disk. If its Compaq disc ( CD ) make sure its Rewriteable or if its hard drive make sure  nirtual memory is not allocated to that part and also no application or software is running.

Sorry, but there is no way to turn off the compression. That is the just the way a quad works. It compresses the 4 video signals to 1 channel. The only way to get around it is to buy a 4 channel unit. 1 channel per camera.

I believe the newer version of your unit is the SSC14WEB. The instructions should be similar.
