Problem charging makita batteries 18v
Unfortunately, Makita’s li-ion battery packs have a design flaw. After having the same problem with my two batteries, I took it apart and saw the problem immediately. You see each battery pack has ten li-ion battery cells and a circuit board with a memory chip witch holds the charging history of the battery pack. But that memory chip constantly draws power from 2 of the 10 batteries. The current it draws is very small but if you consider it over 8 month or more, the power drain becomes very significant. You end up with a battery pack with 8 still fully charged battery cells and 2 drained battery cells. When you put this battery pack in the charger, it detects weak battery cells, assumes they are defective and refuses to charge. To avoid this problem you should charge your battery pack often, even if you haven't used it, every two months should be ok.
I suspect that Makita doesn’t make these battery packs, they make power tools, good ones too. Buy Makita should definitely have a few words with their supplier before they become a liability!
Makita chuckless drill stuck full
If you haven't fixed it yet here is the way that I have used to solve this problem. Spray some WD-40 on the inside of the chuck. Place a shop rag around the chuck and CAREFULLY grip with a pair of channel lock pliers set the drill rotation so that it will extend the jaws and SLOWLY depress the trigger. It should move. Let me know if I can help more. When trying this DO NOT SQUEEZE TRIGGER to full RPM.

Makita battery wont keep charge
Given the problems with Makita Li-ion batteries there are 2 likely reasons, you have a faulty charger or both batteries are faulty, the best option is to find another charger to try your batteries on and see if they charge, depending on the age of the drill you may be able to get the batteries or charger replaced by Makita, a lot of them have been replaced out of the warranty period because they are known to fail prematurely, take the faulty item back to the place of purchase with you invoice and put the pressure on for replacement
Changing the chuck of a 6408 makita electric drill
Open the chuck and remove the screw inside the chuck (if fitted) the screw is left hand thread, fit the short end of the largest hex key that will fit into the chuck and tighten the chuck, put the drill into low gear and turn the clutch to the drill position, support the drill on a bench and strike the long end of the hex key with a firm blow (right hand thread) it may be neccessary to strike it more than once
Charger hy66-30 Makita drill
Is that with the 24v batteries? Where would you be? I'm in Australia, and Makita doesn't sell anything with 24v batteries here. however there seems to be a few going on the UK ebay site. I hope that helps.

My makita batteries nolonger charge
Lithium batteries do have a life span determined by how many times the battery is discharged and recharged and how hard it is worked on the tool. Batteries get hot while charging and discharging and heat is what ages batteries. Lithium batteries, depending on usage, will last from one to three years. I've seen some last five years but that's rare. They also have numerous cells and a circuit board that can go bad and kill the battery. Chargers are designed to check the battery's condition and won't charge a battery if it detects something wrong. If your battery is under one year old, it's covered by the warranty. If it's over, you'll have to buy a new battery.
Have taken apart the makita bhp 451 hammer drill
Hi
If you are referring to 'pins' (about 10mm x .8mm) then these are stop pins. They sit into the clutch/chuck housing. If you look at the array of sprung pegs protruding from inside the clutch/chuck housing, you will see two small holes, diametrically opposite each other and very close to the sprung pegs. Those pins fit into each of those holes.
I hope this helps. If you are talking instead about two little rollers (about 8mm x 3mm) then i too would like to know where they go!
Thanks
