Drill stops or metal clicking when trigger press

the driven gear and the drive gear are worn causing a binding stress upon the tow making this clicking noise once under a load. There are some shops owned independantly that repair all sorts of tools at a fraction of the cost than having it sent back to DeWalt for repairs. Also check the price of a new one for it maybe feasable to purchase new instead

My dw056 breaks bits can you change the hammer to

in order to make the 1/4" hex drive impact drive 1/4" or 3/8" sockets, you need a 1/4" hex adapter for sockets.

They are available at most hardware stores. While i've broken several sockets, and many screwdriver bits, I've never had an issue with with the socket adapters.

You can also get an adapter that gives you a chuck like a conventional drill.

If you've been working them hard, it's not a bad idea to remove them, and put them back in. this reduces the chance of getting the bit stuck from the repeated impact.

As far as changing the chuck of the unit to another one, i'm not sure if it's possible.

Stuck bit

I have also had this problem and it is from using incorrectly fitting bits !! i removed the bit spraying the chuck with CRC and then levering the chuck up with a blade screwdriver and pulling on the bit using a little force !! I found this was the only way to fix this problem . To stop this from happening again only use quality bits in your drill.

I have an 18 volt 1/2

Sounds like you have a gear broke that runs from the motor to the shaft. Take it apart and check it out. easy to put back together. atleast you will know for sure and may fix it while it's opened up.

I have a DeWalt DW927 cordless drill. It's lost

the brush assembly slides out of the back of the motor. I suggest going to Dewaltservicenet.com and downloading a breakdown for this tool before starting. I don't think that the brushes are going to be your only problem though.

Gear slipping in dewalt dw056

Those gears are only held on the motor with their tight fit, if yours is slipping that easily the motor will have to be replaced. The new motor will have that gear on it.

Tired old Dewalt dw056 impact driver

It needs a new battery pack. Rechargeable batteries eventually wear out and no longer hold a charge. The tool runs only briefly and the battery is exhausted again. The big home centers and online sources sell replacements. There are also companies that say they can rebuild your battery pack at much lower cost than replacement. I have no experience with them.

Makita 6222D hole drill bit is stuck

When this happened to me I held the shaft of the drill bit tightly with my hand and reversed the direction of drive for an instant. It released at that point. It still does that occassionally though.
