You said that you downgrade your net speed from 6mb to
3-800kb. If you have 3-800kb of speed it's very slow, i would suggest to upgrade again.

The control is that u log into router from any device's browser, by entering username and password, type in ur browser address bar 192.168.1.1 if u know the admin password ,u can control ur router, u can google the default username/password for ur router incase ur spouse didn't change it.

Once the Router is connected with the computer and with the modem and once the lights are properly lit up

click on start and run and type cmd
You will get a black window type in IP config

you can see the ip address and subnet mask and default gateway
