The Black 120vac Line In wire goes into "L". The Black wire goes into "2". The Red Wire goes into "3". When you install the switch, the Red and Black wires will be on top of the switch.

Light Switch Schematic For Nutone Whispaire WA6500

No they shouldn't come apart. You need a new part. They are quite cheap - I have seen them anywhere from $4 to $15.

My range hood is making

I had the same problem.

What fixed it was I removed the aluminum filter so I could see the motor and fan. Sure enough, debris had fallen through and was inside. I removed the coter pin so the fan blades would slip off. Then pulled out the debris.

Haven't had any problems since.

Be sure to unplug the unit prior to servicing.

Whispaire - Fan stopped working

You would definetly be able to replace the motor yourself, if your a handy person.

1. You must take off the blade before starting which is only held on by pressure and a mini little metal clip at the tip of shaft.

2. Motor bracket is held on by 4 star/phillips headed screws, two are located under the metal plate the retains all the wires on the right side, and two located on the left side of motor housing.

3. The motor is wired with a plastic connector (plug in plug out). Once motor bracket has been unscrewed and removed there is 4 star/phillips screws holding the motor on the bracket.

Restart proceedure to install the new motor. Part #K7448-000

Nutone WA6500 range hood fan motor noisy

We have the same product, 18 months in use and the very noisy motor has finally seized up. I contacted the manufacturer and was advised that I need a new motor, motor mounting bracket and fan rotor. The agent was not able to quote me a price for the parts but stated that even though my 1-year warranty had expired, if I faxed them a copy of the original sales reciept they could possibly send me the parts for free under the original warranty agreement. I've done as they asked but haven't received a reply as yet. After reading about all the problems with this product I'm tempted to dump the whole unit and try to find another manufacturer that has a reliable and QUIET range hood.
