Your dishwasher is equipped with a safety system which is able to detect any operating problems. These anomalies are reported by one or two wash cycle indicator lights "E" will flash rapidly. When you make a direct connection, what? You are dealing with water and electricity, do not jeoporadize the integrity of the unit by changing wiring around, this is really bad, how is the unit set up, is it cold water coming in or hot make sure its cold water coming in.

When you say the motor and heater are fine have you applied an insulation resistance test to these components and to the whole machine for that matter. To trace a 'tripping' fault you need a megger, not just visual or a meter. You might go looking in the wrong place if you haven't megger tested the machine. Good Luck Tony
