No you can't. You can only use the specific charger to charge your camcorder. You can only use the USB slot for transferring files.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

Try reading the disc on a computer that has a DVD drive - should be able to detect what files are on it. If you can't record anymore, then the disc probably got "finalized" on the camera.

Install the Software of your camera in the your laptop by using the CD which came with your camera...after that whenever you will connect this will work finely...

The cameras that use DVD disks have a 89% break down rate, the media simply is not made for things we carry around like cameras, just grab a camera with tape that records your great movie films, the DVD idea is a sales idea from camera makers to grab your money, but the media simply does not seem to work mostly on cameras.

3. Go to page 42 of the manual. The picture shows switch #1, which is on the top of the camera. Move this to OFF. This will remove the Nightshot.

If it were worth repairing, as a Sony agent, I would replace all of the capacitors and clean up the board then reset the mechanism and test. Probably too old being 2001 vintage.

The best thing you can do now is to take it to a specialist and get them to do the repairs. Camcorders have a lot of electronics in them and can be easily damaged if your a not an experienced repairer. You might also have to consider that this camcorder might not be repairable.

The record / playback heads probably need cleaning, using a compatible cleaning tape. Failing that, it is either damaged or broken.

TRV260 nail-polish head attack: eek. Acetone is a powerful solvent capable of dissolving plastic parts, plastic gears, housing and insulation. Besides that, it leaves a residue of microscopic crystals which have probably contaminated the highly-polished metal head drum. Not to mention gumming up the bushes and bearings. With your next camera, rather use a head-cleaner DV-tape.
