What looks like "5 A6" is actually "Sab" for "Sabbath mode'", believe it or not. Reading and re-reading my owner's manual didn't actually clear up what the heck "Sabbath Mode was, but to cancel it press and hold the CLOCK button for 3 seconds or wait 72 hours and Sabbath Mode will end.

You need the model number of the range to get the correct manual. Most Amana manuals are available here: http://www.amana.com/content.jsp?pageName=CustServ . The model number is on the frame of the range behind the storage drawer. Often you need a flashlight and fairly good vision to read off the characters on the plaque.

If you add a comment with the model number, I'll check for the direct link to the manual.

I know this is a stupid question but in the picture below..did you open the part circled in red and switch the peice in it to the other direction..in other words take it out and flip it upside down as was supposed to be done as part of the conversion process??

That sounds to me like a weak igniter. That is very common for the igniter to work at times if its weak and at other times it wont work at all.

No reset button. What happened is either circuit breaker(mains) tripped or the non resettable high limit thermostat blew or the control board was fried by trying to repair oven while still connected to LIVE POWER

One possibility is that the circuit breaker has weakened and tripping intermentently for no real reason. To see if that is the case the oven could be plugged into a outlet on a different breaker using a extension cord.
Another potential cause is that any one of the wires in the range has became bare and lost its insulation and touching a peice of metal, shorting out

You have a very dangerous situation. Do not use this machine! Your gas valve and igniter need to be replaced right away!Use a qualified tech please. The gas valve should never open if igniter isn't hot enough. Not an expensive repair.

Based on your description, I`d suggest the hot surface ignitor for the bake burner is likely the problem. Here's what you can try to verify if it's indeed the ignitor...if you're mechanically inclined.

** FIRST unplug the range and turn off the gas to the range before attempting any service...safety first**

Many people overlook the ignitor, especially if it "glows" since that gives the untrained person the impression it works...that is not the case however. (Ignitor may glow but not have sufficient amperage to open valve).
You can ohm it out to test it as follows...at room temp.(approx. 75F) The ignitor should measure between 45 & 400 ohms with an ohm-meter set to Rx1 scale.

You should be able to find one at most brick & mortar appliance parts vendors or on-line depot's such as "repairclinic.com", "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple.

I would double check with your model number with the part`s professional's.
