Can the HDD be replaced in a Maxtor Shared Storage II

To get the case open look at the this video:

You'll need to find a replacement fan. Read the information on the old fan to get the specs. The fan on mine was a 30x30x10 mm in dimension, 5 VDC 0.12A made by JMC Products - www,jmcproducts.com. I bought my replacement from Future Electronics - www.futureelectronics.com. The replacement I chose was SUNON GM0503PFV1-8.GN. You can also find relacement fans from Mouser Electronics - www.mouser.com (Mouser is a bit more expensive).

My computer went bad and I cannot get the data off

Hello Sir, hi, to access the hard drive data, you need to get the Hard drive out of your computer and place it on another computer.
to remove the drive. 1. power off the pc. 2. open the side panels to access the inside. 3. locate the Hard drive. the rectangular metal unit in front. not the CD drive okay. 4. remove the 2 cables connected to the drive. power and sata/ribbon cable. 5. loosen the screws. 6. Gently pull out the drive.
Ask a friend with a computer to help you out to get the data. or visit a computer shop to have your data back up tp a CD bring you drive along.

I have a maxtor shared

You should try a data recovery software that can read the disk before the system boots. That is your best chance to recover the data. I recommend data rescue PC.You can download the free trial to see if it can read the data. Burn the bootable ISO to a CD and boot from it. Scan the partition in question and see if it can find your client's data. If it can then you will have to purchase the software to be able to recover the data.
