Definitley sounds like a bad motherboard, however, try removing the memory and using a different stick if you have some. Maybe 512 see if you can at least get it to post.

Sounds like the power supply is failing. The power supplies have protection circuitry in them so that when there is excess current draw, the output voltage is 'clamped' (reduced to a lower level) so that the power supply won't burn up. If you are consistently experiencing this, that's a sign. If you added another drive, a new video card or upgraded the processor a little while ago, the power supply might not quite be up to the task. Even with nothing new added, a lot of power supplies don't like to be operated at much over 60@ of their 'rated' capacity, and their ratings are significantly lowered at any little temperature rise. 

Freezing of computers occur mostly due to shortage of RAM. But in ur case, 1GB is quite enough for XP. Since ur computer is freezing b4 even starting up, thus it could be a problem of disk drives.check if more than 1 drive have been alloted MASTER (Primary) or otherwise same priority. If u have more than 1 HDD, then the one in which the Opering System is installed should be given the Master Primary and the other as Cable select/slave. Likewise do it for the CD/DVD ROM or RAM (the CD/DVD RAM should be alloted the master and ROM as the slave). It can be done by the JUMPERs on the back of the Drives. no PC told at all MSI is maker only but yes they all unplug on laptops(is it) they are held on by tricky ways and if forced you break mobo or display there are the easy ones push on pull off the the wedge locked, , unlocked first. and last the hinge lock FFC cable ends learn not to force them, look first for locks, 2/3rs of them are locked.
