Hello, This problem is either a power supply or a motherboard. The cheapest way too start is too replace the power supply. If it doesn't fix then isn't worth fixing to replace motherboard.

Use your restore disks!!!!!!! If you do not have, purchase from Toshiba. OR just do a clean , new install of XP and other programs.

This happens because of static energy storing in the motherboard components.

We can try power drain to resolve this issue.


Try doing power drain by taking out the battery & keep holding down the power button for complete one minute to drain out the power from the computer components. Restart the computer after putting the battery in.
Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa.

That should resolve the issue, if the issue persists, then you have to contact service center.

Blue Screed of Death means either a hardware or software problem. If your lucky a re-install of windows will solve it. But if you need to have your data backed up before you try, otherwise you risk deleting loosing it.

Sounds like yo have the scroll lock or num lock turned on. If the scroll key is a colored key (the scroll lk lettering is blue) then you will have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the scroll key to turn it off. When it is turned on if you press the letter i you get the number 5. If you press the letter O you get the number 6. Notice that the numbers on the keys that have letters are a different color than the letters (blue most times). That means you have to Press and Hold the blue FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the key with the same color if you want the colored representation to happen.Some laptops will use a Square Box instead of the blue colors on the keys. Just repaired one with the same problem. I finally installed new power button board, and motherboard. good luck and hope this will solve ur problem. By the way try the new power button board first it may save ya the cost of a new motherboard. Joe
