The variable screen control of the flyback is smoking
Replace the LOT with the same number. There is no repair to it. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If absent check the feeder resistor; if any. No remote
Sharp, for a price, will sell you a new remote.
You can also pickup a universal remote, that will work with this TV and just about any other TV/DVD/Blue-Ray out there. Universals can be had quite cheaply.
Sound
Your TV has both analog and digital sound output jacks. You will need to connect to an audio amplifier/speaker system that can use either of these types of audio signals. Consult your TV user manual for more info.
No surround sound
i have a sharp lc-42sb55e and it has 2 kind of problem which are rotate each other.
1. problem: suddenly turn itself off and after 1 second it turn on itself and it repeat for a long time and once it suddenly ends. first i thought it is overheated, but it makes it when i turn it on after a day too.
2. problem: suddenly it start swiching betveen the plug ins (HDMI 1, HDMI2, HDMI3 PC, TV, SCART 1...) rapidly. once it sudenly ends. zesterday it made it for 3 hour.

Sometimes the lizards can cause a lot of board wear-off as they being highly conductable and when shorted within the electrical circuit can make the secretions runs into the board therby contaminating and shorting circuits. If you are able to remove and use petrol to wash off the dirt on the board, look for open tracks that have burned or corroded. If you are able to trace and rewire using thin strands of wires , and assuming that no component damage had taken place, you can try this out.If not as suggested you need to find the cost of a new board if a final consensus is taken.
