Connect SONY VAIO VGN-CR23G to tv
it's only a partial solution but channel 3 or 4.... or your tv may have settings for dvd or other. look at the remote. try hooking it up again and changing from regular cable to dvd or the other setting (can't think of it at the moment)

This is going to be a bad screen or screen inverter. You can test the inverter yourself if you have an ohm meter, if you don't have an ohm meter or don't feel comfortable testing it yourself, you will want to take it in for testing. It could also be that there is a loose connection, it's unlikely, but possible.

Wireless
i know one pc is ok, but have you checked that you have the latest firmware for your router as this can stop the disconnections, i can confirm this as i reverted back to an earlier firmware version and it started dropping again, back to a lter one and all is ok.
Just check your wireless connection is not connecting below 24MBPS as it wont surf the net at less than this; this is not your isp speed but your wireless speed

Noise coming from AC adapter
There is a possibility that the power managment sestem in the computer has malfunctioned and is back feeding and burning up the supplies. You will need to take this in for a professional diagnostic to find out if you have a back feed problem. A back feed problem is rare, but not unheard of.

Laptop battery and AC adapter
Replace the power supply first, chirping is not good, and if the supply has a low output it could be putting out just enough to run the machine and not enough to charge the battery. Starving the machine for power can damage the machine or the battery, so, you may still need a battery, but you won't know until you replace the supply. If you do need a battery, aftermarket or generic batteries are fine. I've used them and had no problems. Many times you'll find that the aftermarket batteries are made by the same company that the laptop manufacturer uses, they just don't have the label, it's this way with damn near all the laptop manufacturers.

Wireless Network stopped detecting ALL local networks
Hi, Have you installed the driver for your wireless card since you re-formatted?
Right click on my computer and go to properties, select device manager. all of your hardware will be listed there. are there any yellow question marks? these are devices that need drivers.
Your wifi card will probably be called 'network adapter'. go to the sony vaio website and download the right driver for your wifi card
