Sony VGN-N130G dead with 03 LED lights on
if you see nothing on the screen when you try to boot up, then it is not posting.
(power on self test)
so its a hardware problem.
the only suggestions i can give you is to :
- remove the memory from the back of the laptop, and if you have more than one stick ,swap them around as you may have a bad one,
- you will have to remove one or more screws to do that.
- also make sure the battery is seated correctly and you have the power cord connected and turned on.
- if you only have one stick of ram,and can't beg borrow or steel one from your mates,
- take ram to your local pc shop and ask them to check it for you.
- if the ram is ok return to that shop with laptop to have them check it out for you.
- as it could be many things that has caused this problem.
good luck
Terry

A disk read error occurred, press ctrl-alt-+delete to restart
Hello Sir
I am afraid that the hard drive is corrupt. It needs to be reformatted and reinstalled. There is also a good possibility that the hard drive will need to be replaced I am afraid. To make sure ask the technician or who will attend to it to disconnect the hard drive from your laptop. Plug it in an enclosure and copy all of its contents before reformatting. IF IT DOES WORK then don't let them trick you that it needs to be changed as it is just a case of corrupt files and a reformat / reinstall will do it good. In this manner you hit 2 birds with one stone and you get things back up and running :)
Hope that this solution helped you :)
Best Regards
Alx :)

My drivers
Best bet is to download the drivers from another computer that can access the Internet and either burn them to a CD or save them to a thumb drive. Install the drivers on the computer that needs them and you should be good to go.

Recovery disks, Factory specs, pda files and pcmcia?
thanks for your smile
recovery disc is used for recovering your operating system when your pc is having problem.
restoring back to factory default means the settings of the computer when you received the computer from the shop. in other words default settings.
pda files are personal data assistance files.
pcmcia card is same as lan card( also known as nic card, ethernet card) of your pc. pcmcia card is used in lap tops.

Screen is too dimm to see at all
Go to Control Panel...to DISPLAY...and you should either find a adjustment there to brighten your screen. Or look On the "F-Series" keys or somewhere on your keyboard for a Brighten SUN or dark SUN, which you have to press the blue key along with that F series key to brighten or darken the laptop. Good luck

Problem with windows
what, bootleg? the only operating system you can download is Linux.
Try to restre to last known good point (sometimes it says (safe mode, safe mode with network, etc) select that (last known good point) from the list)

Yeah one expert at a time, and you cant go back to accept a older solution, screwed up isn't it.. if you wanted to accept a previous solution.. how would you do that? do you need to reject all answers or does the expert have to post in another comment to become visible again?
