Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera: DSC H26 does not get recognised in Window 7...
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.

Flash broken,lens stuck
the gears within the lens housing are broken. flat rate if sent to sony usually is about 150 i know its almost the price you paid.
I have replaced my old broken display, the camera works but the light of the display dont work. Its very dark.
The backlight is a different device located below the display. It is supplied with a high voltage (about 100V) over a separate cable. In case of the W55 both flat cables are soldered together and have one multi contact connector on the main board.Check this connection first - the flat cable should be clean and completely inserted. If this dosn't help: is the backlight of the broken display still working? It's a bit tricky but possible to disassemble the display, remove the backlight desolder and exchange it.
