First you need to know what type of physical connection you're using. You have may options, depending on your video card (if you got one separate from the onboard video: VGA-VGA, DVI-HDMI, or HDMI-HDMI). Make sure you set your TV's input to the correct connection (i.e. HDMI, or VGA). Turn you PC on and it should work, if it's not, the problem is probably your PC was set to a resolution that the TV could not display. A quick fix for this is to plug in the old monitor that you were using and set it to a lower resolution. Shut off, plug in the TV, and turn on.

It detects the shorted circuits at the speakers connections or at the power amplifiers circuits.
Try disconnecting all the speaker wires first to see if it comes on OK, if it does, then look for shorted out speaker cables or crossed wires.
If it still stays in protection mode then the power amp sections will need to be looked at.

sounds like something is shorting and the safety on the psu is kicking in.is the backlight behind your screen flickering prior to it cutting out. if so sunds like a cft has gone faulty. can be fixed though

It is on the top right of the TV

The power button is on the top of the tv on the right along with the channel, volume and input button.

WHAT TYPE OF CORD? bec different cords comes along w/ your tv and those cords have its own COLOR CODING & SHAPES, might as well check the ports at the back or side of your tv, & check where the color coding/shape of your cords will fit in.

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?

If this is the correct tv model number LC42D62U and if you are connecting it to something with an hdmi cable, and it is on one of the hdmi inputs then you need to change the settings. Press the menu button--->scroll to setup on the right--->scroll down to hdmi setup and press enter to select--->If auto view is not highlighted already highlight it then press enter--->disable it then press enter--->press exit or menu menu to exit

if u have the warranty then please consent the technical engineer if no then u can do it but take exact precautions while opening as the warranty will be avoided if the product is opened

I'd check on eBay. Many people will remove the stand and mount the TV to a wall or to a console stand. Discarding or selling the original stand. You can usually get them for far less than you'd pay for replacement parts.

If you have a cable box or sat box you may have to turn CC within the box setup.

If you have a HD antenna hooked up to it and it has a low signal it will freeze up allot

Typical repair cost for a broken LCD is close to the price of a new one, so probably not. However it may still be under warranty if it is a defect issue, and not something that you did.

YOU MAY NEED TO CHECK THE CAPS ON THE A/V BOARD AT THE OUT PUT TO THE VIDEO OUTPUT THEY MAY NOT LOOK BLOWN BUT THEY MAY BE DRY FROM WITHIN OR MAYBE LEAKING
