crackling noise from tv

My 40' in Sony Bravia just starts crackling when I am watch television. I can switch between the tv speakers and the surround sound option run through my home theater and still receive the clicking noise.

That crackling noise has nothing to do with the television and everything to do with your antenna. It is merely signal breakdown, when you get signal interference with analogue tv you get snow, with digital you get little squares on the screen and/or sound breaking and cutting in and out, get a licensed antenna repairer to come out check your signal strength as you may need a booster or your antenna could just be a few degrees off....

Sony BRAVIA volume problem

Although sound selection for my Sony BRAVIA is set to "TV speakers", when I try to adjust the volume using either with the remote control or the TV panel controls, there is no change and a pop-up text box appears on lower left corner of the screen indicating sound is set to Audio System.

I'm also unable to change channels using the remote or channel controls on TV panel.

Everything was working fine with the TV an hour ago.

I had this same issue, and solved it by putting the TV in "Theater Mode', which can be acheived by hitting the "Theater" button on the remote.

buzzing/fizzing noise from back of sony flat screen tv

All the time my sony 40w5500 bravia is on I can hear a buzzing/fizzing type of noise from the back top right hand corner. Not very loud. This maybe quite normal? Can anyone put my mind at rest? The TV works perfectly.

Below is an image of rear side of your TV, Sony KDL-40W5500
Top right corner is marked there and possible cause of noise seems back light inverter board, there are high voltage going to CCFL inside LCD panel and seems high voltage leakage causing that buzzing/ fuzzing noise.

Replace back light inverter board upon voltage leakage confirmation.
Thanks.

I have coloured vertical lines covering my Sony

I have coloured vertical lines covering my Sony Bravia LCD tv screen. The TV is only 2 years old. I have sound but a very distorted picture.
The cable company has checked and says it's a tv problem.
I will contact Sony after the holidays...
I'm hoping it's good news as the TV cost close to $2,000...

I also have a 2 yr old Sony KDL32xbr4 that now has multi-colored vertical lines on the screen. I contacted Sony and they say they have "no known issue" of this sort for this model. I find this rather puzzling since I have found numerous postings on the web. They told me to try the factory reset. Whatever. Might as well have said "don't buy a Sony". 2 years! $1300 for a tv and it lasts 2 years! Makes me sick to my stomach.

Hi,

Usually 4 Blinks on this Model refers to a Fault in Power Supply or Backlight Inverter. On most Occasions, it is usually Backlight Inverter. There might be low voltage produced such as 10v instead of 18v (regular in bravia). In some cases the error code results due to failed backlight.

In rare cases, the backlight is not switched on due to a problem on the BDT-board.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The wide button on your remote adjusts the picture size. Each time you press it you adjust the picture. If repeatedly pressing the wide button is not changing the picture size check you cable/satellite remote control. Look for the hdzoom# button. There may also be an aspect or format button. When you adjust this the picture size changes and between the Sony remote and the cable/satellite remote you should be able to come to a happy medium. If the picture size still isn't changing you might not be set to the correct resolution i.e. 1080i on your cable/satellite box. It might be set too low or you might be in the wrong input (av 1 av 2 hdmi 1 hdmi 2) etc.

Hi,
The Subtitle option is available only with the connected devices like DVD Player, Blu-ray Disc Player etc. The option avaialble in the TV is known as Closed Caption. The Closed caption option can be turned off by selecting the options below:
Press Menu button on the TV Remote. Select, Setup settings. Then select Caption Vision option to OFF. This option is for turning off the Closed Caption option in the TV to OFF. For disabling the Subtitle option in the connected devices like DVD Player and Blu-ray Disc Player, press the SUBTITLE button on the supplied Remote continuously to select OFF.
In few of the TV broadcasting channels the Subtitles cannot be turned OFF as this is being broadcasted with the channels.
Good Luck! KenSolutions
