Hi,
4 blinks indicated of backlight malfunction. The unit shutsdown to avoid overload to the inverter board.
Check the backlights, busted backlight has a physical indication of fault like blackened end, crack end. You must replaced the busted one and your unit will back to normal operation again.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Sony bravia 40vl130 Serial No.8002109

Hello
Bravia 40Vl series in not system compactable. The bravia you owns have only NTSC and ATSC system and is only meant for exclusive use in US. It can't be worked with PAL system in Dubai. So this set is worthless for you as you are in Dubai, India or any other part of the world where only PAL system is the standard for both transmission and recording. OK.

AV sign doesnt dissapear on

First of all, here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDL46V2500.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents. You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, and then just follow the onscreen instructions to install it.

See page 21 of the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for detailed illustrations and instructions on how to select the DISPLAY mode. The DISPLAY button is labelled button number 15 on the diagram. Just press it until the On Screen Display says OFF. Then just leave it for a few seconds and the OSD should disappear. See page 32 if you want to change the label of the video inputs.

Thank you very much and good luck.

We have a Sony Bravia 40'' LCD that the screen

the most likely the t-connector board became unplugged or failed completely (sits right behind the screen modual at the top&center) or.. the logic board has went kaput on ya...ontop of that, you are dealing with the notorious sony. try and get a replacement if under warranty. do not settle for thier refurbishing.

repairing these things i can tell you , it could be anything from a bad connection or ring cracks to completely failed parts. but only if i was in it would i know for sure. but the symptoms suggest t-connector or the logic board.

Could be a short in your speaker line, but doubtful. Check for 17 volts in your audio circuit on the AU board, if it is not there replace the board. If it is there, changing the BU board should cure your problem.

Hi, That actually will depend on your input source. Example: if you are receiving " over the air digital transmission, indicated by a channel # followed by a dash then another #(12-1,8-2 etc..) the networks vary slightly their broadcast qualities. I have a Samsung 36 incher that when running from rooftop antenna get 720p most of the time. If you are connected to either a cable box or satellite box make sure you're connected with an HDMI cable preferably, or the cable boxes DVI-D ouput ( on some HD receivers ) IF you're not using a high definition cable/sat box you will not get 720p,1080i or 1080p to show up in your display. I hope this helps, Prodzilla

My sony bravia tv modle

If the set had worked well and then started to shunt with an ON/OFF condition then it is possible that there is a case of low voltage into a circuit which dampens the feedback to the processor and so shuts down only to start up.
Please check the power supply, check all solder joints for drying , check electrolytic capacitors in the power , main board and driver sections.
Check any particular components that seems to heat up and cause this malfunction, it can be related to an IC that becomes unstable. Use a freeze - it spray to confirm.

I have no picture but have audio. Problem occurs

What you have is a faulty capacitor. The problem is finding out which one. I would recommend that you take it to a repair shop, that will take the guess work out of it and it will save you time and money.

Sounds stop working after about 1 to 2 hours of viewing.

We would be happy to help you with this. The volume levelingfeature that we have sounds perfect for this situation; it keeps the volumelevels consistent between programming and commercials and also prevents drasticvolume level changes when switching between HD and SD programming. The volumeleveling feature is supported by the following receivers: ViP 222k, ViP 612,ViP 722k, and ViP 922; the model number of your receiver is displayed onthe front in the lower left corner. Your receiver needs to be connected by onof the following: composite cable (green, blue, red cables), coax cable (singlecable with metallic tip), HDMI or optical devices that do not support Dolbyaudio.

Start by pressing the menu button on your DISH Network remote control, thenpress the number 6 for system setup then 7 for audio output. Once therehighlight the "Enable" option below Volume Leveling and press select.Once enable exit the menu by selecting done on the right side of the screen.

We hope this helps to get things set up the way you like it. Thanks forchoosing DISH Network!

I have Sony Bravia KDL

The fact that the screen illuminates properly and does not stay absolutely pitch black means that the backlights are working properly.

A faulty LCD Controller Board (or TCon board for short) could possibly cause the symptoms you describe. A replacement board can be purchased on Ebay for around $60 plus shipping. See the following link for one example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-KDL-32S3000-T315XW02-T260XW02-CONTROLLER-BOARD-/220731395519?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33649dcdbf

However, if you are unable / unwilling to disassemble the unit and replace the component yourself, then you will seriously have to consider the cost benefit of risking more money trying to repair the unit. Sony products are generally pretty reliable and worth the effort of repairing, but a technician in the repair shop will probably charge you at least $100 just for the labour to replace the part, plus the cost of the part itself. I don't know how comfortable you are with repairing electronics since you said you had the power supply board replaced by someone else. You will have to weigh this cost against the price of a brand new TV which comes complete with a warranty.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.

Thank you very much and good luck.

I have a Sony Bravia

Hi.

Sound with no picture means that there no power to the back light system. 5 blinks means : Main power voltage abnormal.

Power to the back light system passes though the main PSU, main controller board and inverter. The 5 blinks are addressing PSU, therefore testing will start from PSU. The technician will read voltage on the +16VDC line that goes to inverter. The +10VDC and the other voltages from PSU must also be tested.

The service manual with details and schematics has been uploaded here: sony_kdl-40v2500_kdl-46v2500_kdl-46v25l1_chassis_wax2f_.

Regards.

Ginko.
