My 504 Archos will not

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Press the Reset button on the inside of the unit with the battery removed. This should solve the Problem. If not you may need to send it in for repair just make sure you check the warranty of the unit.
Reset button is located under the battery. So remove the battery and look for the button at the end of the archos where the battery pins make contact. To the right of those and half way down between the pins and the case of the hard drive will be a gold round looking circuit. this is the reset. Press it and off you go.

Please let me know what happen. This is the only work around that you can do to fix the issue. The reset button will restore the archos to its original factory settings.
Thanks

My Archos 504 will not

Hi,

if your "reset" button doesn't help at all here's what you can do with your Archis 504 that is not booting up:

First press and hold the TV button then press the power button at the same time. It should first boot up to a normal green ARCHOS screen, then it will enter the recovery mode. Once you get into recovery mode select "Repair Disk" and follow the on screen instructions.

When prompted, please place the following file into the 'root directory' of
the unit:

http://update.archos.com/4/a504/a504_r1.6.53/a504.aos

This resolved a lot of the no boot issue with the same device that you have.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

How do i update my

How to install firmware ..?(update)

Step 1. Download the firmware to your computer-->click HERE to download the update file When you download the update file, your browser may warn you that the file 'could be harmful'. This is normal because browsers are not familiar with files that have a .AOS extension and suspect that they could be malicious. These files are not harmful to your computer.

Step 2. Turn on your ARCHOS device and connect it to your computer with the USB cable

Step 3. On the ARCHOS, choose to connect and wait a few seconds for your device to be detected by the computer

Step 4. Copy and paste the downloaded firmware (.AOS file) to the ARCHOS device.
  • Case 1: logo_firm_hdd.jpg Your ARCHOS is detected by your computer as a Hard Drive (E: for example) in Windows® Explorer. Paste the update file directly onto the ARCHOS hard drive icon.
  • Case 2: logo_firm_g4.jpg Your ARCHOS device is detected as a 'Mobile Device' in Windows® Explorer (not as a hard drive) and you see just two folders Data and Media when you open it. Paste the update file into the folder called Data.
  • Case 3: logo_firm_g4.jpg Your ARCHOS device is detected as a 'Mobile Device' in Windows® Explorer (not as a hard drive) and you see Internal Hard Drive when you open it. Open this Internal Hard Drive icon and you will see the various ARCHOS folders inside (Video, Music, etc.). Paste the update file into this area but be careful not to paste it into any of the folders there.
Step 5. Disconnect the Device
Unplug the USB cable (for 'Mobile Device' connections) or use the "safe disconnect" green arrow icon (for Hard drive connection) in the system tray before unplugging the USB cable.

Step 6. On your ARCHOS device, click on "Update Firmware"
Click on the "tab" button to show the settings screen. Select the "System" icon and then click on the "Update Firmware" button. For the ARCHOS 104, 202, & 204, go to the settings and open the icon "System" where you can find the Update Firmware button.

Try pressing and holding the power button for 15 secs. If this does not work, look on the bottom of the unit where the USB plugs in to, there should be a small pinhole for a reset button. Press this and after it shuts off, try pressing and holding it for 15 secs.

HELLO I HOPE YOU CAN

Hi

USB hubs are available as "un-powered" and "powered". Your Jukebox will NOT work with an un-powered USB hub and may be unreliable with a powered USB hub. It is recommended for best results, that you connect your Jukebox directly to the USB port located on the back of your computer. First take a look if your battery is fully charged. You can also make a long press on the on/off button for 15 seconds; it will switch off the unit and your data will be not erased . If your device continues to stop and freeze, you have the possibility to format it from the settings menu; you can do this into settings, then select system and repair and format tools. Before doing this, you have to save all your files on your computer. Download the firmware from our Website.
Connect the device to the PC. Go in “My Computer”, you should see “Archos 504/604”.
Copy/Paste the firmware downloaded on “Archos 504/604”
Disconnect the device safely. Go to Setup > System > Update Firmware.

Please accept the solution. Do get back to us for any query.
Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Noisy when running

That noise is produced by the spin action of the internal 2.5 "hard drive while it is playing music, video,.. Don´t worry about that.
