CCFL are long tube like lamps that are inside the LCD panel module of some products. Newer monitors utilize LED for the backlighting. It's the backlighting that makes it possible to see an image.

dantheman009, IF you had replace all related caps, usually 5 to 7pcs and still it is not come back to life, you look into the high output transistor area like lotto 50 said. You might also want to check out the ccfl tube is short or not by link them to a good board and try. or you got spare money to order a ccfl tester from china brand. Check out the manufacturing date from the back of the monitor to determine is worth to repair or not. If morethan 7 years, you can consider buying a new one. The panel will degrade after 7 years and release out toxi gas. Good luck.

its a power saver feature.

to change it this is what you do:

if your operating system is Windows Vista: right click on the desktop, ans click on "personalize", then click on "screen saver", and from their click on "change power settings". and make your own custom plan... you can set it so it never shuts off if you would like.


if your operating system is Windows XP: right click on the desktop and go to "properties", then "screen saver", then click on the button that says "power", then from there change it to whatever you want it set at.

Get a technician to fix it.

Some companies include the schematics here or provide you a phone number to call to find them.Utilize Viewsonic's support page found here.Email [email protected] for schematic information. You will likely have to purchase them however.Some big stores like Best Buy are able to order the schematics from the manufacturer if the customer service representative is unable or unwilling to give you the correct information.Unless you can find someone who has the schematics (either online or on here), it is likely that you will have to purchase them yourself.Emailing [email protected] is probably your best bet to find them.Hope that helps!

These units are more of a challenge to get open than most monitors. Here are the steps:

remove all cords - power, VGA/DVI speaker
remove stand - pull off hinge cover and then remove 4 screws
2 screws at bottom corners of case.
Now comes the fun part.
On the bottom edge there are 2 slits on on each side of the monitor about 3-4 inches in from the side. Use a small flat bladed screwdriver inserted in this slot to pop the two halves apart. Once you get a small gap just work your way around the entire monitor until the case halves are released from each other, but don't pull them apart yet. When opening most monitors the front comes off first but on this one the back case comes off first. You will need to again use your flat blade screwdriver inserted between the two case pieces and under the LCD panel and gently apply pressure. At the same time you will need to pull one end of the back case away from the panel, there are two plastic catches on each end that hold the panel inn the back case. One end will release then the other sould come right out so you can remove the back plastic case from the electronics. Now to get to the electronics you will need to remove the two screws on each end of the panel that hold the metal RF shielding in place. Also there is a screw in the center at the bottom of the panel that will need to be removed. Next unplug the 4 backlight power plugs. Slightly lift the shield so you can get to the flat ribbon cable going from the driver board to the panel. It will unplug from the panel by pressing in on the two release tabs, one on each end of the plug. Now you can get to the electronics. I am guessing you are having power issues with the unit. Update your graphics card drivers to the newest ones available. That is typically caused by having the default windows driver for your graphics card. If it is a Nvidia gpu get the drivers from them, itf its an ATI/AMD get them from AMD Game. If it is neither of those Intel does some graphic cards, if its not an Intel one go to the computer manufacturers website and find your model to get drivers for it.

The monitor driver is for your computer to recognize all the resolutions your monitor can handle, there is no sound driver for the monitor to work since the monitor built-in powered speakers are jsut that, powered speakers, same as the one you buy if the monitor does not have built-in powered speaker.
You can test the monitor speaker system by feeding it with the MP3 player or any sound sources.
It may have bad power amplifiers IC. You will be better off spending money on a good set of PC powered speaker system that will provide a lot better sound quality than the quarter-size speakers in the monitor.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

This can happen if you somehow changed the input setting. Make sure to check the "Input" setting on the on-screen menu and make sure it's set to the proper type of input (HDMI/Digital or D-Sub/Analog) for the cable you're using. If that is correct, and you don't get an image, then you should also try to connect your monitor to another computer using another cable...because it actually may be your computer's video output, or a bad cable, that is the problem, and not the monitor.

If those checks don't solve the issue, then yes it may be "done."

The video cable'pins and connections are nice and tight at both ends? Try it with another PC to make sure it is not the PC video card problem.

It may have bad backlight inverter board (the version of this monitor that uses AC adapter)
It can be bad power supply due to bad caps (the version of this monitor that is plugged directly into the wall outlet).
