dont know how old monitor is but it may be time for an upgrade OR the pc/laptop/desktop? may need some setting changes for your wake time, sleep time, intervals, etc.? Sometimes if laptop,, you have to tap the power button to wake up after extended sleep times.

I had that problem, after awhile of using mine, the words would appear to be streaking. I bought a new monitor.

If you try the monitor elsewhere and still does that, there are chances that the hight voltage work for few seconde then stop. Most monitor experience this with age, I use to open the monitor and look for condenser that have the top carved, not flat anymore. this mean that the condenser dry and made internal gaz. Those should be all replaced. 2 time over 3 it does fix this issue. then if you try you monitor on a computer and it does work correctly, then it would be the PS3 , I suggest trying to unplug the PS3 for a 30 sec then try rebooting it. (did happend to me once)

run first to safe mode and then restart the unit... this is a system error not in the monitor..

Sounds like your menu button on the monitor is stuck in the pushed in position. See if that is the problem and use a needle, q-tip with alcohol to pop it back out.

what OS? windows?what a PC?if windoz, go to safe mode, and set the the resolution.then boot.safe mode is found , by pressing the F8 key, repeatably as you boot, then not stating what OS ,makes an detailed answer inpossilbe.

The tag at the bottom of my Gateway 1975W says it is 1440 X 900 resolution

Open the unit back up and check the cable that goes from the control board to the LCD panel and make sure it is plugged in securely. If this cable is not connected all the way it can cause lines on the display. Also while you are inside the unit check the capacitors on the power supply board. The tops should be flat, if you have any with bulging tops then you need to replace all of the ones on the power supply board. This can also cause display issues if the power supply is not putting out the correct voltages because of bad capacitors.

Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply. I would replace all 10 with PANASONIC FM or FC series from DIGIKEY. Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The blinking power light is a good indication of a failed power supply board and the white screen backs that diagnosis up. Here is a link to information show what to look for and replace on the power supply board to get the monitor back up and running again. The monitor has a power supply problem, or the inverter transformer has failed, probably not cost effective for repair.
