Movies and CD's that I've played before in the Sharp now read " Incorrect Disc" . Is this fixableby me or do I have to take it in for service? Thanks.

Please make sure the silver side of the discs are nice and clean, if they are smeared with fingerprints the laser pickup may not be able to read them properly, I usually clean my discs with warm soapy water and dry them gently with a soft cloth.

If thats not your problem or it doesn't work then it's likely the laser pickup/module needs replacement.

As with all thin screen televisions the most common problems develop in the internal power supply that requires a shop for repair. There is also a possibility that the remote is not working. Try turning it on from the front panel. Solutions to that are try replacing the batteries in the remote.
There is also circuitry in the power supply which will shut it down if a defect is detected. That would be a shop repair also. You have already bravely taken the first step by making sure it's plugged in. Always the first thing you should think of.

When you say WD box, do you mean a Western Digital Hard Disk Drive? If so, get a Solid State Drive (SSD), and connect it via USB3. The HDD or the USB connection is not fast enough to keep up with the required speed of the video. If you mean something else, please add details.

Check the high voltage circuit on the board that has the 120 volts input. The high voltage should be close to 400 volts - nothing less than 390 volts. The capacitor is failing to hold the voltage and needs to be replaced.
