HP 6310 Carriage Jam

Constant Carriage Jam error. There isn't a carriage jam--many customers seem to have this problem with this printer. Sent printer in for service--HP just replaced the unit. Want to know what to do the next time this happens (as I'm very sure it will.)

The first solution worked a few times and the second also helped. I found that the right piece that is a black rubber part that slides forward and backwards was getting stuck and preventing the printer head from going to the right. The piece has two holes with rubber brush like things sticking up. If you move the printer heads out of the way you can slide the rubber piece back and forth and it should move smoothly. If it seems to stick or is harder to slide then you will need to clean it. I took apart a few top pieces of plastic to get to that rubber part and cleaned the sides and the place where it slides with rubbing alcohol and Q tips. There is a groove on the left side where there was the majority of buildup of ink to clean. I also cleaned the rubber part sides by placing my Q tip with a LITTLE rubbing alcohol on the corner and then sliding the rubber piece to clean the whole side that goes into that groove. Make sure to take a dry Q tip to the same surface. You won't be able to get all of it but the majority of it should come off. After cleaning it I haven't had a problem since. I imagine it will get dirty again and I will have to clean it again after a while.

HP Officejet 6310 - fax error code 350*

i only receive this error code when faxing to one certain number. all other numbers seem to send and receive like normal. i have done the recommended steps on the HP troubleshooting website and in the error code section and spoken with the remote fax location to ensure no issues there. both lines are dedicated to fax and there are no known service issues in either area. i also disabled the ECM feature with no success.

is this error associate with anything else i can try to check?

paper mismatch

I'm trying to print a 5.5x8.5 wedding invitation. No matter what I change the paper type to it keeps saying paper type or size does not match. How do I get it to print the invitation. I've changed it to custom. It gives me my size but the printer keeps giving me an error message about paper size or type.

Hi kingwa55,

I have an hp photosmart c4480 and was having the same problem printing wedding invitations. Same size 5.5"x8.5'. Im not sure if this will work on your printer, but this is what I had to do.

Click on Print, then Properties, then features.
About half way down there is a drop down box under sizing options.
Click on custom
Create a name, and put your width and height in.
Click Save and then OK
Completely X out of the print options.
Then Click
File, print, properties, features, click the drop down box under sizing options.
Click more and scroll to the bottom and it should be there.

If your options are different then mine, I'm sorry for wasting your time.

hp 6310 Cartridge error

My printer keeps telling me that the cartridge on the left needs to be replaced. I put a 2nd new cartridge in and it still says the same. When I check the ink levels, it registers empty when it's not. Help!

I contacted HP customer service and was given a solution that worked for this precise problem: "Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well), wipe the cartridge contacts, from the top to the bottom. The contact area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy lubricant material from the gold contacts. The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a clearn, dry, lint-free cloth, gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom."

This worked for me. At least immediately. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Reset Power flashing on HP Officejet 6310 all-in-one

For no reason this happened to my printer. I spent a couple of hours on the chat line with the HP technician on their only solution was the fact that I had used a refilled cartridge. That is so much B.S. and we all know it. I had only used one cartridge of ink in this printer since purchase. They do not care that we have been sold a faulty piece of equipment. I have owned several HP Printers but doubt that I will buy anymore HP equipment. I am so disappointed in the service and the fact that I am out of warrenty earlier this year. I feel that I was sold a faulty machine and HP does not care about loss, nor do they want to keep me as a customer. I was even considering buying a new computer from them as my HP equipment had been so satisfactory in the past.

Unfortunately this can and usually is a fatal error. The only solution is to unplug the printer while it is on and wait 30 seconds and power back on.

It has nothing to do with refilled cartridges (and for the record that is not a good idea - a LOT of printers are ruined and it almost always voids a printers warranty from every manufacturer.) The error is caused from a power or firmware issue within the printer and if the powercycle doesn't work it needs to be replaced.

HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One ''Cartridge Error: Cartridge on ...''

I switched the printer on yesterday morning and had theimmediate display "Cartridge Error: Cartridge on left must be replaced”. The cartridge was new (ish) but I replaced it and got exactly the samemessage. I followed the electrical contacts cleaning tips from HP - nodifference. Someone posted a tip of removing the left (colour) cartridgeand this has allowed me to use the printer in black and grey scales, which is adefinite improvement.
Sometime prior to this problem I allowed a download of a program update for the HP. I also tried the HP with the PC turned off but got the same message.

ink cartridge problem! The following ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged.

nk cartridge problem! The following ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged even with the ink cartridges installed correctly in the printer with sufficient ink. What do I do? 'ink cartridge is missing or damage - replace".
I had installed it 2-3 weeks ago and had not used it that much.
The ink cartridge was an Office Max product, replaced it with HP and it was fine.

Solution :
1. clean the ink cartridge contacts both in the printer and the cartridge with a lint free cloth or a cotton swab. and try inserting the ink cartridges again. if it wont work proceed to step 2.
2. unplug the power cord at the back of the printer
3. press and hold # and 3 keys at the same time and plug the power cord back in. Do not release the two keys. wait until the printer would say "partial nvram reset" or anything that says "reset". if this still would not resolve the problem
4. do the same process as 2 & 3 but instead of # and 3 try # and 6. instead of saying "partial nvram reset" it should say "semi-full nvram reset". and if it would not work better go to an onsite technician. but if your printer if brand new return it to the retailer and exchange it. but before you do that try calling HP technician they would instruct you to the things i have given you. Just tell them what you have had done and asked them to replace the ink cartridges. This are the informations the agent would ask you about the ink cartridge
part number and also the expiration date.
try to ask for a replacement first if it would not resolve it. then go to a technician. I could not assure you that a technician could fix it because i have troubleshoot this kind of problems and there are alot of printer parts that needs to be fixed. Usually i suggest my clients to buy a new printer instead
