In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.

Check to be sure the cartridges are in the right slots.
Print a test page, if it prints in color.
Then it is the application your using to print.
"It may be set to print in black or gray scale only."

Run the the menu on the front panel and make sure Color is on.
I have one just like it. 99% of the time it is the application switching off the color. Double check the color cartridge and make sure the machine acknowledges the insertion of a new color cartridge. If not it will default to the black ink only.

Have you tried going into Control Panel > Programs and Features, and then navigating to the offending Printer, right clicking and selecting Uninstall?

To do partial Reset.

1.Unplug the power cable and turn off the the unit.
2. Press and hold # & 3 at the same time with out connecting the power cable.
3.While holding the button,connect the power cable and do not the release button for 5 sec.
4.Then turn ON the unit.

To do Semi full Reset.

1.Unplug the power cable and turn off the the unit.
2. Press and hold # & 6 at the same time with out connecting the power cable.
3.While holding the button,connect the power cable and do not the release button for 5 sec.
4.Then turn ON the unit.

To do full Reset.

1.Unplug the power cable and turn off the the unit.
2. Press and hold # & 9 at the same time with out connecting the power cable.
3.While holding the button,connect the power cable and do not the release button for 5 sec.
4.Then turn ON the unit.

If the lines are vertical (in the direction the ADF feeds, 11in long for 8 1/2 by 11) You can try cleaning the glass the scanner uses when it's using the document feeder. Pull up the top left part of the printer where the documents feed, there's a little rib in the middle of the side to help you do this, then simply pull up the assembly underneath with all the rollers in it, you should see about an inch of glass underneath and a centimeter long strip of white plastic on the assembly (this serves as the white background when feeding slimmer papers) Clean them both. I'd recomend any glass cleaner, just don't spray it in there, spray it onto a cloth.

If either a paper jam or blocked carriage error message appears on
the display, there might be some packing material inside the HP All-in-One. Look
inside the device, including the print cartridge door. The shipping lock might still
be in place on the left side of the HP All-in-One. Remove and recycle or discard
the orange shipping lock.

Uninstall HP Photosmart software and Drivers for printers. Remove all the HP softwares. If you have CD reinstall printer and HP Photosmart software from the CD.
Other wise download the complete software and drivers from following link.

Try reset your printer by following this procedure to reset it,

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.This should fix the problem..

There is a small sensor that detects "door open".
If that sensor is broken/malfunctioning, then you will get the indicator at the "wrong" time.
Check that sensor -- see if you can "jam" it into the "closed" position.

It looks like something is obstructing "hpsosvc08.exe" from running. It could be a virus or it could be the security program. Which antivirus or security program is installed on your system? In most cases, disabling the Virus program or security program helps, but this isn't a permanent. Some Antivirus Program manufacturers like McAfee or downloading the latest software/driver should fix this. Since you didn't mention much details, I am unable to make this specific.
First of all, disable your Antivirus or Security program and try, if it helps, download the latest version of your printer's driver and install or update it. You can download the drivers from HERE, (but you'll need to select the operating system).
