Nikon Auto focus problem with the 18-135 KIT lense
I had this problem and just realised it today. I found out that it was a a settings problem. What I had done without realising was I had my "AE-lock" button functioning as "AF-ON" which meant that my autofocus would only turn on when I held the shutter half-way and pressed that button. Once I turned this function back to its original state of "AF-Lock" as opposed to "AF-ON", it worked fine.
My symptoms were:
• soft mechanical noise when holding the shutter (i thought it was trying to focus but couldn't. I thought the mechanics for the AF were faulty)
• Couldn't take photos unless they were in the set conditions (which makes sense because it was locked on a certain setting until I pressed the AF-ON button).
My camera is only a few months old so I wasn't convinced it was faulty/broken. Make sure you test all of your settings and go through each of them before you chalk it down to equipment error.
Hope this helps.

RGB Histogram will not turn off.
It's not hard... I had the same problem, but I found this solution on the internet and it worked.
First turn on the camera and press the play button.
You are now viewing your picture with the histogram.
Use the same joystick looking kind of button that you use to scroll left and right through the pictures, but instead of going left and right, go UP OR DOWN. That scrolls through the different display settings.
Hope that helps!

When using any lens, the view through the viewfinder has small spots like a liquid was sprayed on a optical component. What is this and how can I fix it?
It could be on the mirror, the underside of the focusing screen, or the back of the viewfinder. All three can be inspected visually. The back of the viewfinder can be cleaned with any window cleaner. Don't spray any directly onto the camera, but rather onto a clean microfiber cloth and then wipe the viewfinder clean. The mirror and the focusing screen are more delicate. First try a handheld blower (NOT canned compressed air). If that doesn't do it, try a camel-hair brush. Only then resort to wiping it with a clean dry microfiber cloth. Use common sense, and avoid scratching the mirror/focusing screen. If it's on the inside, the camera will need professional cleaning.

How do you shut off auto focus on camera?
The focus mode selector switch is on the front of the camera, just below the lens release button. Switch it to the "M" position for manual focus, "AF" for autofocus.

Shows err on display
try cutting power off and on. if not, try cutting off and then take lens off and put it back on, making sure it is on correctly. Make sure software is updated, you may have to send back to nikon for general maintenance, could need new shutter. Check to see how many photos have been taken on the camera. There is software to do this. Full life is 50,000 some say 100,000 is more likely. If you use it hard, you could need new shutter.

Shows err on displaycant take picture
This message covers a wide
range of problems and when it does appear, the camera locks
up until you turn the camera on and off again. But this error indicates a problem(s) ranging from poor / dirty mating electrical contacts between camera body & lens (this inhibits
communications between the two); to a shutter malfunction. It is pretty common for it to be dirty contacts on the lens mount opening on the camera body or on the lens itself. When this is the cause of the error, it is almost always fixed
with a good deep cleaning. But it can also be more serious, so it doesn't hurt to contact Nikon if you are worried.
Try these suggestions from Nikon first:
- Remove all accessories from the camera.
- Install a freshly charged battery into the camera.
- If your Nikon camera offers resets such as the two-button reset or a
hardware reset please follow those instructions provided in the product
manual.
Grab a copy of the manual
here. Good luck!

My nikon D-80's flash won't pop up, yet it also won't go past the flash sync speed of 1/200 while flash is down
Was the camera impacted? Sound like the flash up switch if always closed. Remove battery. If you carefully remove the flash cover (two screw underneath) by first inserting a business card under the flash on the rewind side (yeah, we haven't come up with a better term!) at the back and slide it forward freeing the flash down latch), and do not touch the flash tube as there is 300 + volts across it if it is charged!Look at the pivot for the flash on the release button side at the back, you will see a small switch. the top part may be under the activating rod - reset it above the rod and it will now work properlyOnce again, be careful - there are 300 volts across the flash tube if it is charged

Which is the best model
That's like asking what's the best flavor of ice cream. The best model Nikon for a sports photographer most likely will not be the best model Nikon for a portrait photographer. A photojournalist might opt for a different model.

Hi, please help my F
If the lens has an aperture ring, set it to its smallest setting (largest f/number). In the manual exposure mode, change the aperture by turning the subcommand dial (on the front of the camera).Take a look at
this.
