I cannot get this camera to download a video to my

First reboot your system and then try it again.
It sounds as if your filesystem on the camera is corrupted. Try doing a filesystem check on the camera like it is an external drive. This will be easiest on a Windows machine, but you can do it on the mac with some commands in the terminal. Let me know if you want to do this.
Hopefully that will fix it. If not, I would try to fully erase and reformat the camcorder's memory using the camcorder itself (may be labeled "initialize" or similar in the camera's menus, or possibly "erase all" or something like that). By doing this though, you will lose any video on the camcorder that is not already transferred to the computer.
If these methods fail, then the camera may be broken and need repair.
Also though, you may want to first try the camcorder with another computer (preferably a Mac) to see if perchance some settings have been changed on your system that have caused the problem.

I have a JVC Everio Video Camera, but i can not

The problem's not what they are saved as, it's your burning software needs to transcopr them into mpeg-2 format so that they burn properly.
There are several dvd burning software programs out there...some very pricy and some are free.
For pricy type I would go with nero 10
For free, I reccomend Free DVD Creater
Whatever program you go with, it must be one that will change the format from whatever it is, to mpeg-2.

I hope this helps.

Two possibilities for said symptoms, either DC jack got broken and does not provide volts to camcorder coming from adapter (11V) or any chip fuse is blown at main board for some reason inside camera.
Local camera repair shop will help you to get camera fixed because camera will take apart that needs expertise.
If you want to attempt by yourself, get service manual copy from internet to have proper disassemble procedure to avoid any damage.
Hope these info will help you.

First thing i would do would be to email the firm you bought it from and explain the problem and that you are returning the disk and explain that you would either like a replacement disk or your money back.
